If I use my 9Z, do I have to inhibit the gryro settings or anything of that nature. Or just use the radio's default.

I've been thinking of using 2-separate speed control for a homebrew
heli that I am making...How did you make it work? Specially the tail rotor....How did you make the GWS 50FP ESC to initialize with the
joystick normal "OFF" position on the center? Do you move your tail rotor stick all the way to the left before you turn on your heli, then let go of the stick after? Would it not make the tail rotor run prematurely?
Do we really need the CSM HLG 200 Gyro to make it work?
I am very interested...please give more info.
Thanks

I use an Airtronics RD6000 Super, and I have to turn off all mixing
features..
The HB mixer board will take care of the tail rotor mixing.
Even a simple 4-channel radio will work.

What is a good high speed charger? I was looking at the Hitec CG-340... is that any good? Also, will a Hitec 4 channel reciever work? thanks,
Aaron

i dont understand how we go from asking opinions on the setup
you guys are usesing to talking about chargers.
I am also interested in different products that will work with the
hummingbird because i just bought one and only bought the heli itself.

Thanks

Out of topic--Charger---sorry.

Anyway, one charger that I found very good is the New Hobbico
Quick Field Charger MkII
It has two chargers w/ individually adjustable current.
Can charge 1-8 cell of NiCad and NiMh
1-3 cells of Li-Ion
It's peak detecting, w/ buzzer sound when finished charging.
Reverse polarity detector.
Has a very good affordable price.

GRASSCUTTER - the tail ESC is initialized just as you described it. Full left stick on the rudder and you are ready to go. The tail motor running prematurely has not been a problem for me. I had a CSM HLG 200 gyro in bench stock and it works well to respond to the torque of the main rotor and also perform the HH function. Without it, you either need a mixing ckt on the heli or a computer with mixing capability to mix the rudder channel as a slave to the throttle channel. The gyro just made it a lot simpler and lighter.

Great setup

Century micro piezo gyro
Hummingboard
Maxx 6800 Pico 4 channel receiver
Maxx pico servos x 2

I made several modifications to the basic bird. and my electronics are all mounted in the small "box" on the chassis without the lid. I cut the lid and made a small mount which I epoxied to the front "A" frame. In front and just below the motor, this serves as the gyro mount. I also leveled the landing gear using a spare landing gear and have no problems with it. The century gyro is rock solid and this thing flies like a dream. I treated all the ball joints with powdered graphite and mounted a very small round bead to the bottom of the vertical stabilizer so it would not snag on the carpet.

setup

Hi I have about 15 flights on my bird
one thing I did was put in a new motor
Went with a 280BB Simprop power speed Arco ! Lifts off at 1/3 throttle now! Also the air time is longer too, weight is 54grams and max draw is 4.8A. I dont know the U.S. price but for 55can. it was a not too costly upgrade. Had a look at a brushless Astro nice but too much for me!

Castle Creations Pheonix 10 brushless ESC
Castle Creations Pixie 7P tail ESC
Astro 010 brushless motor w/10 tooth pinion
HS55 servos
GWS micro receiver
JR G410T heading hold gyro
Energizer 8x750mah AAA NiMH battery

Thei setup flys great so far. Only hovering and some rounds around the livingroom. When I tied all the wires up I got glitching. Seperated the power wires from the servo wires and it helped a bit, but still need to get rid of some minor glitching. I could never get far off the ground with 7 cells and the stock motor.

Mounted the 410 in (still in the case) at the back of the main frame under the tail. Works great so far. I'll probably switch to a CSM 200 heading hold gyro if I can't lighten the JR easily.
I also cut my landing gear so the heli sits level - got tired of the way it looked sitting there.

Overall I am pretty happy with it.

Eat some humble pie, please.

This is a turn around if ever I've seen one.

This was an earlier post by Flyer39564

"Hope you enjoy Chinese knock-offs. This is nothing more than a poorly executed copy of a Piccolo. Go to e-bay and you can see the same heli listed as a Feda or a Skylark or a Handy EP. You would be better off buying a Piccolo Fun, at least you could get spare parts. This is not a "Century" product. I for one am amazed that Century, after years of struggling to get a "rep" of a quality product, is now going to flush it all for this piece of cr*p. Do a search on Century new helicopter here and see some other opinions. And yes I have one so it's not speculation or rumor. It's junk.
Cheers - Boyd"

Would you like that dry or with water.

Sorry

Had to say something. Actually I read the earlier post when you first posted it. I have several Century products and love them all. I also Fly a rappy 30 V2. I felt you were bashing Century pretty badly in the first post and when I read your post regarding setups it sounded as though you were tickled with your humming bird. So how do you like it ?

Mine is a blast, and durable too.

Sorry. Wasn't trying to blast ya

I'm thinking of installing a BB280 motor on my second bird and a couple small upgrades from helihobby. What do you think ?
