Well a little over a month ago I purchased the fly from QWW after checking it out some in person. Looked like a nice quick build and go fly electric. Was looking for something bigger then my trex yet smaller then my gassers the fly fit the bill. Didn’t get a chance to work on it since work took me out of state for close to a month

Finally back home with some time off for the holiday and got to work on the fly. This heli does build quickly. Although it is definitely not for a beginner to build. Reason I say that is that the instructions are not clear on some things and you need to know what they are looking for plus a few items where even missed. All minor stuff in my book. Took me around 6 hours to get the fly done. The parts where all there and the finish was great on all of the parts. I would say that I honestly feel that the fly is well worth the asking price and will be a perfect grab and go heli to get some flights in when I want to just fly one or 2 and take with when I go on the road for work small enough to fit nicely in my van and big enough to have some fun with and be able to fly almost anywhere with no noise issues.
Sorry no pics at this time my digital was unavailable at the time. Need to wait till my gyro comes and I get a chance to get a battery or 2 to give her a test fly. Will update with more info when I do.

Glad you got it all together. I haven't seen the instructions on one, but since the parts count is so low, anyone with any heli building experience should not have much of a problem. Shoot QWW an email on the instructions with your concerns on the assembly. All ideas are considered.

It really is a nice flying heli.

Thanks Dave for your post. I am very please that the kit was complete & the build was quick & easy.......No PUN INTENTED.

Please either PM me or post the things that you will like to have us fix on the instructions DISC. It is easy & we can do it RIGHT AWAY..

We feel the FLY is a perfect beginner machine. It can turn the head from 1600-2300 RPM for basic hover to FULL 3D. With the 475MM blades I guess that is what they call now a "500"...for us we have been flying this EP power configuration for 6 years now...the FLY begining our 3rd generation of this class machine.

LOL well the first place to start would be page 35 it is completly blank. i wull have to go back over and take another look to remeber the others. i do remeber that the instructions called out 1 size blot and the pic showed another size could get confusing for a new person. another spot to concider would be a nice shot of the way the linkages are hooked up from the head down. i will get it out and let you know of any others i can recall but like i said over all its a very nice kit to work with cause of the low parts and does go together very nice

yeah i know why they on disk save a tree and a few dollars cost to print manuals is out of this world. setup yep tested not yet. hoping to be able too when i get back from Road Island next week. will let you know dave

The disc is the best method for instructions simply because we can update any changes or suggestions...

It also saves a ton printing & like you say Dave save the "TREES"

Well Derek. If they were only able to be downloaded in PDF format, then what do you think the backlash would be from that? I know you didn't intend in throwing the topic off......but..

Also, 90% of the individuals DO look at providing CD's as a way of "helping" with the environment.

It also wasn't a very accepted way of providing instructions a few years back. I actually think QWW was one of the first to do it.....others have followed suit. Now it is becoming the "norm", and will continue until it is the standard.

There is a balancing act between what being environmental is and what is practical in the business market with today's technology.

I still view it as a "plus"

Finished my fly up last weekend and can say it is one of the most simply designed helicopters. It was also the fastest I have ever built. There is nothing to it.

well finaly got a chance to get my fly done. gyro installed and ready to go. didn't get to do much more then some hovering in the back yard. but i can say that it looks good actally scared me some when i first spooled it up man those blades where moving. i took my settings down a good bit then tried again barly got off the ground reset setting up some lifted up but still used a lot of pitch to get up .reset higher now she lifted nice. i belive that i need to go up some more best guess blades only doing around 1500 right now. i am gonna reset top end alittle higher and hopfully get a tach on it to confirm. i am shooting for 2000 on my blades. but i do like this one alot . more to follow. dave

I think that mine tached around 1800 at 70% on the throttle curve. It's pretty quick with that rpm, but I have increased it to 80%, but I didn't tach it there. I would guess it was 2000. I toned down my exp quite a bit to get it where I felt comfortable. It is a quick little bird, no pun intended....but it's really stable too. I do more nose in stuff with it than I do with my gasser. I guess it might not be quite as intimidating as my gasser, but it is just as stable in a hover which suprised me.

Anyone have any pics? sure would like to see your final setup i.e. And being its a new heli all comments on how well it handles or doesn't welcomed

got out yesterday for abit. tached mine at this setting and it was way down 1490 took curve up to 80% and then i was at 1960 that made the deffrence big time. handles really nice at that. i may bump it up alittle more and get it around 2000 to 2200 but not sure gotta play with it some and see. i know what you mean about being more relazed with this one versus a gasser. i was like that with my t-rex vers my preditors. you let go with the rex and hold back with the gassers. no pics of mine yet seeing as it is just plane jane yet didn't deceid on the paint yet. i can say that if you want i nice and quick electric the fly is a good one. dave

geker, have you been out with it any more? I went out this weekend with mine and was doing some backwards flips. They weren't the best looking in the world, but they are getting better. I have been trying to do a "real" inverted hover but can't seem to get the hang of it. Have you tried any rolls with yours yet? It rolls good even with the rates turned down quite a bit.

LOL out to fly nope haven't had a chance since i was out this last time. been all over the place with work tho. in New Hampshire for 2 days, then home and then ended up in Illanios for 2 days back home day off but bad weather then a job 2 and half hours away then in road island for 3 days back home then headed to Florada for 3 days. being a service tech for newspapper printing presses does get me around. was off today but we had light rain rest of week and weekend i am heading for virgina.
