I use the Model Avionics Sky Tach.... $80.00 It sorta feels cheap in your hands, but it does what its supposed to.

mbfjr,

I am a newbie and do not yet belong to a club.
So I just fly in my neighborhood in Buford.
I am looking for a place to fly.

I use a cheap JP tacho, incidently, I compared the read-out with a friends more expensive tacho and they were exactly the same.

Thanks to all who posted here.
Your info is very helpfull.

I found a tach called a "Chinook" I am trying to buy one as they seem all sold out about everywhere.

If i fail here then I will buy an "X-Cell". they are in stock and are reported to be another top model.

Thanks,
Harry

Honestly, you don't need an expensive tacho.

I use the Model Avionics as well, but I think the Minature Aircraft model feels much more solid. In the end they both do the same thing though.

I like the bantum one + its a servo driver which helped me find a broken sig wire which saved me a load of time finding a glitch with out crashing a second time. + it has a watt and amp pull checker And a batt load tester I think ?? Check it out

Looks like about the same price everywhere. But tach, Rx battery checker, temp probe, servo tester, all in one, not bad.
