Crashed? Discussion and Photos > 1st Trex crash :( With Video

I was doing some low inverted hovering on my 3rd attempt at 3D, and started some inverted piros and rolls in mid wind (10-15mph). And my gyro started to give me problems (agian), this time i was inverted when it struck, plus the wind picked up which didn't help and it went in to an unplanned inverted circuit, i did a quarter of it to try to pick up speed to bail out of it, but lost altitude during this and then.......BANG!! I was horrified because i had just spent £30 on some Radix 325 blades which i though would have been destroyed along with most of my heli . But to my delight the only damage was...

Flybar
Main Gear
1 set of servo gears, plus a cracked horn
And my brand new just been sprayed canopy . But it has been stuck back together .

So all in all not bad for an inverted high speed crash.

Wow! That's amazing on how little damage. The tall grass probably helped...

What gyro are you using? In addition to the glitches you are experiencing, it doesn't really seem to hold very well either.

Thanks guys, yes the damage was good for a crash that bad . Its not a glitch (ive got a ferite ring installed), but the gyro has its moments its a CSM HH 200. A has been a pain in the neck since day 1so its going to be on eBay soon and will be replaced by a GY401.

Their is nothing really wrong with it, i just think its for a bigger nirto heli thats why it is such a big gyro.

Ollie- beautiful countryside scenery you fly amongst. Sorry about the crash.

I had a CSM 200 on my XL for a while- I removed it from the case to save weight and shrinkwrapped it. It never really did the job for more than sport flying. You'll like the 401 better, but consider the Logictech 2100T- I'm using them now on my 450SE, my Mini Titan and on my Trex 600 Electric. Tried the 401 on both Trex's (works okay) but the 2100T is much better IMHO. Holds better, lighter, more consistent piro rates. And a little cheaper (here anyway), so what's not to love?

Never, ever, ever, ever give up.

Yes thanks matt, i have some nice senery to fly with in Cornwall (England) . Yes it is ok for light 3D, or aerobatics but it cant handle anything more than inverted hover. As the tail just drifts. So no inverted circuits yet .

Thanks for the tips, i will have a look at the logitech one , heres a nice pic of the scenery

try the Futaba 401 and JR3400g tail servo. I think you'll be pleased at the holding and piro rate plus the durability. Stay away from the carbon t/r blades, just use the stock plastic or the new K & B, rock solid and no hunting no matter how hard you slam it.
