I am going to order the Ion X2 to build over the winter. Love the Razor from last winter. Which motor/shaft diameter and what gears should I order? (I notice the manual shows the Actro 32-4).

Will be on 10S and just do sport flying; I assume 690 blades and governed down to around 1800 headspeed.

Thanks, Joe..

hey , get the 32-3 with a 6mm shaft if you can , thats through MA though. 5mm shaft else where. gearing for 10s will be around 10 to 1 . just tell that to MA and they will know what gears you will need
and if you get a 5mm shaft Actro 32-3 , and you knotice the pinion gears are 6mm , the tail slider bushing is 6mm OD and ID is 5mm. its kinda tricky to drill a hole so the set screw can go through but it works great

I put an Actro 32-3 with a 5mm shaft on my Ion x2 and snapped the shaft; I have ordered an Actro 32-3 with an 8mm shaft. Am also going to try an Actro 32-4 with an 8mm shaft. Check with Tim at MA because all pulley gears cannot be tapped out to 8mm so gear ratios are limited.

I have a 32-3 on 10s. I am currently using the 9.85 GR recomended by Tim. I do have the 5mm shaft as well and I did use the tail slider bushing trick to get the pinion to work. It is a pain but it worked out just fine. Even on 10s, the Actro pulls plenty hard enough for hard 3D. I am using 690 TST's with a HS of 1900. So far I am having zero problems with this air frame and love it. It is for sure the single smoothest machine I have ever built and flown.

Brass Sleeve 6mm x 5mm

Here is a brass adapter from MA that I'm not sure Tim even knows about. Its half the cost of the tail slider and it has the holes for the set screws already drilled.

If you dont get hold of that brass sleeve, I see in your profile that you have a Logo 10, the tail slider brass sleeve on that logo fits well too. (you have to drill some holes for the setscrews though)

I know.
