Aerobatic FAI F3C Contest > heard of a Patriot fiberglass fuse?

I was at a swap meet today and found new and untouched Patriot friberglass fuse complete with bulkhead and fin templates however no instructions. The templates give no thickness or type of wood or finish to be used. The previous owner said he bought it a long time ago for an Ex-cell 60. While it does look dated, anyone got a photo of a finished one? Maybe some info on wood thickness and if it used balsa fins that were sanded to an airfoil shape and fiberglassed, as my guess would be. I was almost paid to take it so its cheap enough to mess up to figure out what I'm doing. I'll post pics of it Sunday.

Thanks fellas

Patriot

As I recall, The Patriot was the brain child of Bob Akers of New Albany IN. They were flown back in the mid 90s with moderate success. I remember seeing several with X-Cell mechanics. Sorry I don't remember any more details than that.

Thanks Gordie. I dont know if I'll do anything with this fuse. I was never looking to put one on my R60 but now that I got one, I might if only to play Hotshot pilot I can see this much already, looks to take alot of work to do it right. One intresting thing is that it calls for 3 degrees of an-hedrile(ack!spelling?) of the horizontal fin.

Yep, that was Akers. '92-95. Bowling pin, as one of my buddies called it. I haven't seen one in a while. The Triumph was the dominant fuse at the time. It should fly well.

If you want something similar, send Dwight Schilling a PM, he had 2
Black Shark type fuselages for sale over the summer. I think he wanted $300 for the pair.
