e-Miniature Aircraft Furion - Razor - Ion-X > David's Ion-X2 Hardcore 3D - Mulberry, FL 2007

Hello,

Here is David flying his Ion-X2 powered by an Actro 32-3 and 12S 3850 Extreme V2. This setup can deliver some serious snort. I saw this Ion up in the air at least 10 times and each and every flight was at least this impressive. Unfortunately I missed the beginning of the flight. Check out David's flying:

Even Bobby Watts got a chance to wring out this machine one time on Saturday.. wow.

Chachin..

PS: I didn't get his last name, but he was a very friendly guy and even gave me some valuable X2 tips. If you are reading, thanks man!

Have you tried it on 5000's yet or do you want to keep the machine light?

Awesome flight! I met David this year at Chattanooga and his personality is just as good as his flying. Glad to see you're still rocking to MA's!

One more thing. I have tried the 5000's. You definitely get more time...I just prefer the quickness and feel better.

No problem David, glad you liked the video . I should have filmed one of those other flights when we were standing right there with you for a closer view. It was nice to meet you too.

Beast sure was putting the Razor through its paces too .

Ion to Ion x2

Can you convert orignal to existing,if yes how much after motor change, reg, batteries? Ive looked at pics of the new x2 but didn`t show it with the batteries on, do you still use the old battery holder plate? Or do they fit another way?

Thanks, Scott

Miami6, thanks for the link, the footage was awesome . I had missed the night flight in person. Hey I just got a set of those 12S Extreme 3850 V2's. Man all I can say is that the heli responds QUICK!!

Scott, yes you can convert an X1 to an X2. I have a whole conversion thread with pictures here in case you are interested:

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=734635

I called MA directly and ordered a conversion kit. It was somewhere around $320 for the double-stacked main gear version. The batteries now get mounted towards the front, one on top of the other (pic below with 12S 3850 Extreme V2). This allows the latest "fat" brick-style packs to fit without rubbing/bulging the canopy.

I`ve started reading the forum, have or do you mention the cost of the motor ,esc and batterys in addition to the x2 conversion kit?

Thanks,

Hey Scott. I am using 690 V-Blades, 451 Futaba brushless servo's and Spartan 760 Gyro. I use TP 12s 3850's. Thanks, David

The motor I am running is an Actro 32-3 with a HV 85 from Castle Creations in Governor mode.
