So I geuss you would call this a woof and no poof? I lost a link in flight to day, Not what you may think, thw link broke in the middle of the thread. check out the picks. Also bent the main shaft :[ and anti rotation guide. Sucks cuz it was flyin the best ever. flew 5 or 6 batts in a head +/- high hover just trimmin and adjusting the gyro. Major bummer. Oh well back to square one.

Man, that looks almost as bad as mine when I had the link fail. My mainshaft bent over at 45 degrees.

How are your servos? I lost all four as well as the gyro. Luckily, the Spektrum AR6000 receiver survived. You've probably also lost your spindle, maybe pushed the flybar cage out of wack, and I'd check the feathering block. I lost one arm and associated bearing.

Is that one of the injector rod mainshafts on your heli? I haven't bent one of those yet, nor my composit shafts. I had re-installed the "hardened" stock shaft in my HDX300 prior to my incident. I was trying to get some back-to-back flight comparisons of differing main shaft lengths.

I know this has been said many times,, but for all that money you could be flying a Trex 450 and it will always fly better then this little thing.

dct, you are correct with your comment that the 'Rex 450 is a better flying heli. I've had a 'Rex 450SE for over a year now.

And while I've hovered my 'Rex in the house, it is as not a relaxing as flying the smaller helis.

The biggest reasons my HDX300 sees more indoor time than all my other little helis is directly tied to the belt driven tail. I've retired my original Blade CP. My HoneyBee CP2 and my MicroHeli airframe both use brushless, direct drive tails aided by heading hold gyros. While yaw control is MUCH better than a stock Blade tail, it is no where near that achieved with a driven, adjustable pitch tail such as found on a 'Rex or the smaller HDX300.

Some similar-sized helis with belt driven tails, such as the Compy 300 and similar offer alternatives to the HDX300. One of the points that puts the HDX300 in a more favorable light for me is the fact that HeliDirect is less than 60 miles from me. It's like I place an order one day, and the next it turns up on my doorstep. Are there issues with some of the parts? Yes. But luckily, the parts I have issues with are components I can make myself.

Align has been going bigger in their heli designs. I would love to see what they might come up with if they went down to a 300-sized heli. The MicroHeli belt-driven airframe sure looks interesting, but the price is higher than I'd care to pay. And to top it off, has anyone even heard of one of these in the air? If MicroHeli airframe were in the $150 - $200 price range, I might bite. But $287? Not worth it in my eyes.

I agree totally with all you have said,
So much so I went and bought another Honey Bee Cp2,just to see if I can make it fly!
I started with one about 2 years ago. For about a year and a half now I have been flying Trex 450 . I started with a Trex XL now I fly a upgraded Trex Sa with all the V2 parts except the frame its metal,I like a metal frame better then carbon.
I'm hoping to add a brushless main motor and use two stock tail motors to the Honey Bee Cp2 and call it good.
I am flying it with my Futaba 7C radio and that makes it fly at lot better right there.
Just something to play with.
A friend on mine had two of them just sitting in his garage for over a year, he couldn't get them to fly at all. One was never taken out of the box! Got a good deal even with all the spare parts! Just couldn't say no! LOL

Not that it matters but I also have an EVO 90 YS 91ST, Shuttle zxx. I just fly what ever is working at the time. As to buying a t wrecks I'll sell you my 300 for 600.00 and buy a t-rex. On second thought, Like GM said it's the challenge with these machines that is fun, not the cost.(or popularity) I like the look of this machine over any micro besides the little nitro 300's (I love engines). The blue cnc is awesome, from your post it appears you dont even own a hdx/3dx 300?

Unless you have use full info to share please stick to trolling the 450 forum.
Thanks

Your right,I don't own a hdx/3dx 300!
That should of been apparent in my first post, about how much money the hdx/3dx 300 cost.As too buying your hdx for $600.00? For $500.00 you could of gotten one of these.( Pictures attached .)
Oh,, as for posting ,, I will do it where ever I want to.
Have a good day.

Great if I ever need any info on a 450 rex I'll be sure to let you know.
You're post about money is useless, Maby the cost of flying, building, modifying one of these little 300 is beyond you. Maby you should get a second job or come out of retirement so you dont have to complain about cost. Who are you to tell me what is a good buy?
How do you even know how a 300 flys if you dont own one?
because you saw one on youtube?

The moral of this story?
You should not speak of things that you know nothing about.

see ya in the 450 form when I post about the cost and stability of my 300 there.
Geez get a life

ahhh cope yer bein mean

dct it isnt about what we could do,its about what we want to do.i have 2 trexs.one xl and one se both fully blinged and carbon.plus i have enough parts to build another one.i also have a blinged raptor .50 and a blinged eflite cpp.an ep/100 and a fully blinged hdx300 again with enough to build a 2nd.

which helis do i fly the most?thats easy,my hdx300 and my ep/100.why?because i really enjoy micro heli's,and i loved the challenges i faced finding easy fixes for the other hdx owners.im making a g10 frame now based on my ep/100s logoish plastic frame.

micro ownership is a mindset, its something we all enjoy immensly and it is like a slap in our face when folks say "well you could have had a trex"well i do have a trex, and i prefer my 300 and 100,heck i love my cpp,but my next thing is i want to build an easy tail belt conversion for anyone that wants it.i enjoy my rexs and raptor, but as to flying and enjoying the flight, its comparably to getting out of the family buick and hopping into a fast squirrily hopped up mini cooper.

so in a nutshell yes for a few its the monetary aspect, but for most of us micro owners its the pure enjoyment we get from building and flying these tiny wonders.

Ahhhh, Cope, lets just keep enjoying our 300-sized helis. I put two flights in this evening my my HDX300 and two on my MicroHeli based heli. The HDX300 was definitely more stable and relaxing than the MicroHeli machine. And all the more satisfying for the fact that I'd solved so many issues with the HDX300. The end result is a stable, reliable, good flying little helo.

Oh ya, you want to talk about a ride. This is the little gem that the wife and I built. We've been working on it for over five years. We've done it all, the bodywork and paint, the enterior, the engine, and chassis mods. These photos were taken earlier this summer when we had a 1642 cc single carb motor in it. Since the photos, I finished a 1835 cc dual-carb motor. This new one is amazing in its power increase from the single-carb 1642 cc. The photos were taken at the 2007 Volksfair, held on the Woodstock Fairgrounds, Woodstock CT. Yes I know, it's not a heli, but dct threw his store-bought car into the mix. We built every inch of our little machine. And it's unique enough that we don't meet another one going down the road.

You're right....
I don't why I feel like going after this guy? I should just let it go.
I got my little one back in the air to day! The antirotation guide snapped when I tried to bend it back, I could hear my old boss in my head saying "Thats what you get for working with cold mettle! jack a$$" Oh well.

I flew 2 batts with out it, seems fine a little loose on the controls, but what do you expect? I'm thinking about removing the last collar weights on the fly bar, (the ones right next to the fly bar cage) Dose any one fly with no weights? The response is still a little slow for me.
LOL I even tried positive expo on the tx, it's not bad like that, just weird when you go full stick.

I hope to get some air borne picks in the next day or so, providing I dont have any more issues

(edit) when I was a kid me and my dad built a baha bug 1800cc dual webbers fiberglass front , choped the top ourselvs, aluminum tank alum. dash, auto meter instruments, we use to camp out at pismo and let her rip!
