Yep you got to love Technology; some people just hide behind it. Funny how Horizon have not amended any documentation still after all these months of the modules and X9303 being out….

So its ok to use a DX6 in the UK with no CE markings on it but both TX's with CE markings it not....again very interesting...

Have you informed the CE Police that JR/Specktrum is marking the products illegally?

LOL.... the CE Police .....

Dare I quote Catherine Tate ??

All I can go on is what is known... OFCOM / UKRCC / BMFA / Horizon (UK) where not 100% aware of the differences.

I have gone round in circles on this... cross checking FCC standards against EN standards, checking the OFCOM's I.R.'s, the ERC's etc etc.... thats why I am looking at spending the equivalent of a new car to get these DSX9's legal for the UK... oh and future proofing them for the next 4 years or so by getting them tested to v1.7.1 which becomes effective next year.

This will make getting the DSX12 authorised an absolute doddle and will make the cost a damned sight cheaper... ( 2nd hand Moped !!)

Why are you having to pay for the testing ? Surely Horizon pay for testing. Afterall, if it doesn't get approval, they make NO sales

Bugger all to do with Horizon.... JR are the manufacturer...

But I believe we pay for it (if it gets tested this side) and get it part paid by JR.

JR buy in the RF sections from horizon/Spektrum, same as they buy in other components of the systems....

That sounds like unacceptible practice. If a manufacturer wants to sell to wherever, it's their responisbility to ensure it adheres to the legal requirements. How can they expect to sell otherwise.

I can assume that nobody has imported a X9303?

Yug,

JR are the manufacturer... MacGregor is the UK importer, therefore if we wish to sell it.... it is up to us to get it Type Tested & approved... Not JR ! After all, they do not need to sell it to us.

Hi Nick, I heard Sunday was a good day at Bonchester?

I have opted for the spektrum plug in Module for my Powercat. I hope to have it up and running for my next weekend off work.

Oh **** ! this is going to be expensive?

Mac_Man,

I have been a JR 'user' since 1980 I have had a 347, 3810, 3810ADT, and I now use a (US) 9303 and a (US)8103 for my plank(s)
Why do I use the US gear? because of the switch positions. The US sets are available in heli, glider and aero formats. In the UK the Heli and Glider sets are not available (as I understand) and hence the switches are in the wrong place. I think with plank flyers rather than heli flyers in mind.
When I got my 9303 the PCM 9 was on v1 and the 9303 had better software. Similar to the PCM 9 II.
The 9303 was also considerably cheaper. (sorry)

I love my JR but the UK switches suck!

I have also found McGreggors service to be fantastic!

Whatever happened to the JR 2.4 GHz design ?

How long is JR obligated to use the Horizon/Spektrum stuff ?

If the 12X doesn't come with a much improved DSM3, I think you are going to be eaten alive next year as the other manufacturers come on-line.

nick,

We get the "standard" version that JR manufactures.... however... it is not beyond the realms of possibility to get the alternative labels ( ie US versions ) after all, they are just sticky labels...

The switches can be reconfigured without too much hassle. All you have to do is ask

Dont forget that the 9303 originated from the 9X and that the 9XII is the rest of the world version of the 9303. It was released about a month after the 9303 came into being.

4S,

A good question.... I believe its "on hold" until such time as they can bring it online. I have absolutely no idea, I hope its not too long as it directly effects me !!

The 12X 2.4 will have to maintain backward compatibility with the current sets ie the X9303, DX7. I believe that some serious experimentation was carried out on the 12X with Paul Beard in the driving seat but that hasn't been confirmed either way.

As to the other manufacturers ? DILLIGAFF.

I have just cut and pasted this from the S.A.A. web site forum. What is going on!!

I checked out this with JR, the X9303 does have a CE certification and has the marking on the back just like the Spektrum DX7. It is approved for use in the UK & Europe, so the BMFA are wrong to say they will not cover it under their insurance on the grounds that it is not approved for use in the UK.

Oh **** ! this is going to be expensive?

Unfortunately I do not have access to my home emails from here, however, this is a copy of the response I got from Horizon in a PM on a different site.

Quote
The manual did include that (it was written before that was known to be an issue), it has already been changed (the online manual is current). As for a bulletin, I haven't heard of any discussions of that, but likely should be happening, we'll have to dig into that further....

If you look at the current online manual, it no longer shows it having CE markings. It used to be on page W5.

Unfortunately it was a classic case of cut and paste from the DX7 manual before they realised that the DX7 (as sold in the USA) was not legal over here.

If in doubt, email Product Support at Horizon, they will be able to confirm this.

Mac_Man

I understand that the 2.4 gig gear in the US is not 'legal' in the UK because of the output, is this correct and if this is the case what are the different outputs and why is it not 'legal'

thanks Nick
