Just wanted to share with you guys my Heli. It initially was a 3DX500; however, I didn't like the Lepton style head so I changed it to the Trex style head of the HDX500. Some of my parts include:

Hyperion S-3025 6-turn (1365 KV) Motor
Hitech HS-85MG Servos
Castle Creations Phoenix 85 ESC With Custom Heatsink
SportBEC Switch Mode BEC
Berg 7 Receiver
Revco 18T Pinion
MAH 425MM Blades
80MM MS Composit Rear Blades (80/4/2)
Cardon Fiber Boom
Trex 600 CF Fin Set
Quick of Japan 3MM Flybar/w Gaui 550 Paddles
GY240 Gyro/w a 9254 Tail Servo
Flight Power Evo Lite 14.8V 4250 MAH Battery
Sonix Metal Skids

Here are some pics of my Heli,

Steve,

The Heli has incredible power with that motor/pinion combination. I get about 18 minitues of flight time just hovering and doing simple manuvers as I am still new to helicopters. No 3-D yet. My head speed with this motor/pinion combo is approximately 3,096 @ 80% efficiency. You metioned that I was running 550mm blades, but im only running MAH 425mm. I am running the Gaui 550 paddles though and those are great. I am definitly looking into replacing my current motor with the Gaui 1500w motor and from its dimensions of 54.5" tall by 41" in diameter that should just fit in the SE frame. I am also looking to upgrade my current 14.8v battery with some type of Flight Power 18.5v battery, but im not sure what model will fit in the SE frame.

i don't think it will fit the frame. The SA frame will allow you to stack more than 4 cell.

Steve,

Just wanted to let you know that if you remove the two gyro mounts/battery tray mounts then the Flight Power Evo Lite 18.5v battery will fit. When taking off the two mounts that will make a clearence of 37.58mm and the thickness of the 18.5v Evo Lite battery is 37mm so in theory it should fit; however, you will need to tie the battery down with some Velcro straps to hold it in the frame.

The motor would work perfect if you use 1 battery 11.1 volts not 2 batteries at 22.2 volts.

Grant,

Unfortunatly I dont think so. You would have to get the stretch kit for it, then you would be able to run the 470mm blades.

Grant,

There is no actual strecth kit for the HDX500; however, you can use the Hirobo Lepton stretch kit, which ReadyHeli.com sells.
With my Gaui motor I get around 10 minutes of run time just hovering and doing simple maneuvers. No 3D yet.
