While flying my raptor 50 yesterday the engine died for no reason. When we got closer and examined it, it turns out the fuel line and clunk fell off. When I got home and got the fuel line out of the tank it was very brittle. I could literally flick it and it would fall into pieces. I have never seen a fuel line do something like this. So anyone who hasn’t changed there fuel line in a while I suggest your check at least check it.

Fuel Line Check

I assume the engine was running fine and it quit for no apparent reason. Are you running a header tank? If so, did the clunk line in the header tank or the line in the main tank come loose? I have read from several guys on RR that replace their entire fuel system lines and clunks if necessary once a year. Not a bad idea especially if you don't purge all the fuel out of both tanks after a day of flying.

I try to use the Hayes black fuel line that is recommended for clunk lines in all my nitros. Not sure what kind of line you had go bad on you. Maybe it doesn't make a difference. Who knows.

Thanks for the info BMM. Hope you get your Raptor back in the air soon!

Yes, everything on the helicopter was running great. I am running header tank and when i took it apart the fuel line in it was not brittle like the main tank line was.I'm not sure what kind of fuel line it was but it obviously needed to be replaced. I know I will defiantly be paying closer attention to this in the future.

Considering the cost, ease of replacement, and risk of a bad crash due to degradation, this should be changed regularly. In my opinion once a year is not frequent enough. I would be looking at no longer than 3 months.

This is quite normal.
The Higher the Nitro, the sooner this happens.

I replace all clunck and fuel lines every 6 months.

Heres my video from when the fuel like came off of the header tank in my Predator max 90 during a fairly low rainbow...managed to save it with minimal damage.
