Picked up a new Hanger manual fuel pump yesterday and discovered it was Dead-On-Arrival at my filed box. Heading back to Hobby Town today for a replacement.

Have any of you had problems with this pump? Will I be better off getting the Dave Brown "Six-Shooter"?

I have tried several hand pumps over the years and got fed up with the things leaking. I tried resealing the vanes and all sorts, in the end I bought a six shooter and have had no problems. If you can, purchase a service kit at the same time and keep it in your workshop, when the silicon starts to stretch or wear, its a two minute job to replace.
Just make sure you buy the right one i.e gas or nitro

I bought a new hangar 9 pump a couple weeks ago and had the same problem... spin the pump but nothing happens... it wasnt dead though. It just need to be primed. I put the line that you fill the heli with into my mouth and sucked on it until I saw fuel get to the pump, then I hooked it into the heli and when I cranked it, it came to life.

It has been working perfectly ever since, without the need to be re-primed.

I tried the priming thing, but couldn't even get it to prime.

UPDATE!!! The pump turned out to be good, it was the tubing that was bad! Never thought new tube could bad. Once I got GOOD tubing, that thing pumps to beat the band without any need to prime.
Lesson learned, check EVERYTHING! It was the reply about priming that set me on the trail to the asnwer and saved me another trip to the hooby shop, thanks!
