Hey everyone,
For those that have seen the pics on miniatureaircraftusa.com you have seen MA is designing their own 450 class heli. The Beam didn't end up working out due to some issues that couldn't be resolved and Miniature wanted to make a better and the ultimate 450. This is twice the heli. I thought I would get on and let everyone know how awesome this new heli is, it is basically a rocket ship. I have gotten quite a few flights in on the machine now, and it is really flying unbeleivable. In my opinion its the most innovative and well designed 450 I have even seen and flown. It flies so much like a 90 it is unreal. It looses that little micro heli feel and feels like you are flying the big stuff. I have seriously cranked on the thing trying to make it fail in places the previous micro would fail at, and it seems impossible to me. But anyways, thought I would start a little conversation on it.
At this years I-Hobby 2007, October 20th and 21st at the Donald Stephens Convention Center they have the World Micro Heli Cup. Its going to be flown in that competition by Bobby Watts and myself.

I doubt Nick will be allowed to post picks, considering the MA site.
This will be an MA design not a Korean made MA wanna be.
I am dying to know if it is going to be one of the first shaft drive tails on a 450 size????

It is a completley MA design. Nothing like most other micros out there. The tolerances and quality are designed like 90 size MinAir's. It doesn't have the tolerances like other micros with the idea of "its only a 450 size", its built to fly super hard, and doesn't wear out or come apart.

It will have its own canopy.

As time goes by and more people are able to compare this model against the other 450 sized models under regular use, it will start to be more clear why MA designed their own.

Owners of XCell helicopters know that they are durable, reliable, and stay "tight" even after many flights. The 450 will be no different.

I don't think I would start getting excieted about it yet. Not becuase I don't think it will be a very good heli but because I know from expeirence I did the same thing, got all excited about an MA heli and almost lost all intrest in it after waiting so long. But I am happy now that I have it.

I saw the heli today at the I-hobby show and it does look pretty nice. I talked to Bobby Watts and another fellow at the show while giving the heli a good look. Bobby said the heli weighs about 2 oz. less then the Trex. Holding the frame set and giving it the once over it seemed very stiff and the head was very tight no slop high quality while he showed me the cyclic travel it had loads the head is using a 4mm feathering shaft and thrust bearing. About releasing it, it sounds like very early next year is a probability and possibly earlier. Watching Bobby fly their new heli it looked very quick and crisp. If I could only get them to send me one I would love the chance to fly it.

Does anybody have any idea as to cost? I don't expect it to be cheap but will it be within reason compared to other 450 size helis?
