I'll liase with our technical guys at the factory and report back - my business partner is there now and may be able to sort something out.

Are they available with different color frames? I like the Stratus design but not necessarily the blue frames.

Does anyone know the difference between the glasses. Besides being glare blocking and polarized what makes it worth the extra money for the Nimbus over the Startus. Also just want to know if anyone has experienced any distortion due to the curved lenses on the non-perscription glasses. They look and sound great, just hard to take the leap without trying on a pair.
Thanks much

I have been wearing the Stratus sunglasses from Model Glasses for several months now. I chose the Stratus because they wrap around more and block more light. I not only use them for flying my heli, but I wear them on a daily basis (especially while driving). I was a bit apprehensive about ordering sunglasses online. I suffer from migraine headaches and cheap lenses always cause a migraine for me. I am happy to say that I have worn these all day without a migraine being triggered by them. They have proven very durable. I have dropped them a few times and they have not scratched. I also opted for the Cat 4 lenses (they are super dark) for those very bight, sunny days. The case is also nice. There are slots in the case to hold the extra lenses. I am very impressed with them.

How do I order the Cat 4 lens seperately?
I want to buy a pair but don't see how I can buy the 4th set of lens seperately.

Thank

david

I asked them when I called and placed my order. I think the Cat 4 lenses were only $10.

Model Glasses

Hi Guys,

I have to be a little careful here because we don't advertise on the forum, so I'll stick to giving you information only.

Regarding the prescription glasses, having consulted with our preferred optical experts, we can say that anyone with a prescription of plus or minus 6 or stronger should not use the Innovation glasses. We will be producing a small fold-out leaflet explaining this, plus other information, to go in every pair made in the future.

Somebody asked about the Stratus frames and colours - the new Touchdown are in matt black, and basically the same frame as Stratus.

Someone else wanted to know why the Nimbus were more expensive - polarized lenses cost quite a bit to make, hence they are dearer to buy.

Regards

John

Hi John,

Thanks for getting back to us and addressing the situation. I do wish I'd known this before forking out £120 for a pair of lenses (-7.00 and -6.75) but I guess not enough people are as myopic as I am to have discovered this earlier.

I have managed to get mine usable though as described earlier in the thread [by heating and bending the inner frame to flatten them both on the same plane] so I am now happy using mine. The actual shading by the outer lenses is awesome (those yellow lenses are great too for certain lighting conditions), so I would recommend these shades to anyone, as long as they're not very short or long sighted of course

Cheers,
Jim

I wish I would have known that these new frames were coming out. I would have waited for the Touchdown with the matte black frames. The Stratus frames are nice, but I prefer all black. Will the stratus lenses fit in the Touchdown's frames? If so can the Touchdown's frame be order alone without lenses?

Thanks

The Stratus and Touchdown are the same frame in different colors, so yes, the lenses do interchange. The bad news is, you can't buy the frames on their own.

Did you buy a pair from one of our US distributors? Maybe if you ask them nicely, they will exchange your glasses, provided yours are in re-sellable condition. You can ask, but I can't make any promises on their behalf because, of course, you are their customer and not ours.

John,

I contacted www.ModelGlassesUSA.com and they are sending me out a Touchdown frame. As soon as the Touchdown frame arrives, I will be sending them my Stratus frame. Now that is some excellent customer service. I not only use my Modelglasses to fly with, I wear them on a daily basis.

Thanks for the awesome support.

Glasses

Hi Guys, just wanted to let everyone know that I purchased a set of Modell Glasses almost 2 years ago, and I love them, these are the best investment I have made in this hobby in 15 years, I liked them so much I actually asked John Clark if I could be a US distributor, but as my luck would have it I was a bit late, Oh well, doesn't matter, I will continue to use my glasses, and plan on purchasing another set real soon, so thanks to Modell Glasses and John Clark for an outstanding product.

Regards Eric G.
