Moos,
Could you please post where you got the LiPoly's and Motor & P-gear from. Also what are you using to charge the Lipoly and how long does it take. I should have my HB back from century on Tuesday. Unfortunately the main blades that were suppossed to ship last Monday didn't come in until Friday so I don't expect them until later this week. You would think they would have left a set on the HB and replaced them with the BO stock when it came in. Has anyone tried the Pic Tuning Main blades? Do you think they would do better on the HB?

I'll post some pics of the bird and nest (flight box) later this week.
Regards,
Anthony

parts and li-poly packs

You can go to www.nwhobbies.com. but I dont know if there on ther site yet. You can call them and they will build them for free. I dont know how many more they have but you can use the 880mah or 1020. I have used both and have had great luck. They might be on the site tonight, but call them. ask for Jeremy he knows alot about that heli and has flown it alot with the nimh and poly packs. Call them they will help you out with anything, I think they have replacement parts too. good luck

motor and pinion gear

oh sorry, the motor is a graupner speed 280 6 volt motor, and the pinion is a 11 tooth. you can also go with a 12 tooth or a 10 tooth, since the stock is a 10 tooth. Just make sure to wire the motor is opposite polarity. meaning + wired to the -. Happy Hovering

Mods for li-poly batteries

There are no mods needed. You can tell when your running out of power because you will start to loose lift pretty soon. The Li-Poly batteries will drop off a little quicker than NIMH but you can tell when your running lower on power. (2) Li-Poly batteries are 7.4 volts. LP (Li-Poly Batteries) are 3.7 volts a piece so you need two of them wired in series to make up a 7.4 volt pack. the 1020 mah pack weighs a tad under 2 ounces. the stock "birdseed" pack weighs about 5 ounces, but is rated at 8.4 volts which will peak up to 9.8-10.2 volts. Now keep in mind your working with 3 ounces less, which in the HB it weighs 10oz total with the stock nimh pack. I have noticed very good flight times up to 15 minutes but one downfall is it takes about 30-50 minutes to properly charger a LP pack but if you have about 3 seperate packs no problem...... where as Nimh can be charged a little faster. The cost on LP batteries is farily cheap so if you want to play with different packs check them out. BE CAREFULL on the motor. longer flight times = Hotter motor, you will burn it out. I allready burned mine out thats why I replaced it. I will call Century to see what they say and post it tomorrow. any more questions let me know. thanks

Main Blades

Before the first commercially available Micro Helis came out, I read some articles of some homebrew Micro Helis and that they were using
"PVC Venetian Blind" materials for their mainblades.

It seems that the HB main blade profile is similar to the curves of a venetian blind. But with regards to the final material used by Century, which might be moulded ABS will be far more superior in strenght to the PVC venetian blind.

As a cheap alternative, it is very tempting to experiment on the PVC
material but extreme care should be observed in reinforcing the root so as not to throw a blade during flight.

HB on Li-POLY

Yes I have flown it outdoors and it flies great providing there is no wind. I picked them up allready soldered, they did it for free. I havnt used three cells yet, but I will go ahead and try it and post my results tomorrow. I did attach a micro based antenna too and that helped alot (mostly for looks) this elimated the long wire attached and did not affect my range. Looks like the combo is coming without the rx. they were having problems. I would use a gws receiver or fma dc receiver. I think you can get by with a gws there cheap and lightweight.
