i saw this all metal head on ebay for the walkera 22e that's really cheap. it looked just like the kind that's being sold my ms composite. i was wondering if it can be retrofited onto the ms hornet x3d. well, all hornet uses the same shaft diameter anyway.
so is anyone doing this? any word about to share?

If there is a will there is a way, almost anything can be made to work within reason. I can't speak for your peticular mod but I did something similar by putting a 15 dollar Ebay Walkera 60 CNC head on a Esky honey bee king. Had to lenthen all the links and reverse the blade grips but the end result is fantastic, perfect tracking and quicker cyclic response.

Yes, it can be done. I'm flying like this since last year - no problems at all. As a bonus you will get longer grips that can accommodate blades not necessarily designed for Hornet. There is room for another bearing in each blade grip - important if you run at very high head speeds.
