“Just wondering if anyone is using the Maxx Products MPI MX-30 Pico servos in their Hornet CP? It appears that the Hitec HS 50 is the servo of choice for Hornets and probably other micros. The MX-30 is actually just a little lighter. It weighs in at .19 0z, while the HS 50 weighs .22 0z. The MX-30 also has a top ball bearing, while the HS 50, I believe, does not. Both have the same torque, at 11 oz./in. The MX-30s transit time is .09 sec., while the HS 50s transit time is .08. I have used Maxx Products MX-50 High Power servos in several park flyer airplane applications and have really liked that servo. The MX 50 is just slightly larger than the HS 50 by Hitec.
As it seems so important to save every gram of weight on these micros, wouldn't it be good to put in servos that were as light as possible, assuming the MX-30s are good quality? Anyone had any experience, good or bad, with the MPI MX-30s by Maxx Products? I believe they are made in the same plant as the CS 10 and also one other brand whose name I can't remember.
Thanks for any thoughts on this topic!

Any takers on this post? I too am interested in some input on this. I ran the MPI MX-30’s in a light electric plane and found them to be super little servos, however, I didn’t have that model long, so long term reliability is not something I can comment on. The output shaft is slop free, and has the one bearing. Has anyone else tried them? Thanks! |
