Crashed? Discussion and Photos > well... my trex 600N

This is what is left on my trex600N, I got iT 3 weeks ago. I have 2 gallons of fuel thru it. It was doing fine all day then it was all over. The grip came off of the feathering shaft when I was doing a choas at about 150 feet im guessing, it was pretty high. It hit nose first.

This is my first crash since I have started flying a year ago. As you might notice it is probly more cost effective to buy new kit and start over, I prolbly wont be flying this one for another 4 to 7 months. Ok first off, my brand new O.S. hyper 50, the heat sink is totaly smashed, it dint blow up even know the throttle was wide open, it hit the ground fast enough to not blow it up, the engine shroud killed the engine thankfully buy crushing the fan. Next my R770 JR reciver, trash. My Futaba 611, the wire was riped out of sensor and all wires riped out of controll unit, the case smashed, its all junk, and the servo that comes with it, the case smashed, gears striped.

My new fremeco 5200 battery, 2 cells were crushed, we are going to see if they will fix it, we just need to replace flag pin switch and 2 connecters on regulater, the govoner is fine and so is sensor. My 8717 servos which are $110 each, 2 need new top part of case, 1 needs new gear, I need new throttle servo, it gone, my radix blades are still usible, one went sliding across runway at airport and skined the paint but still usable, all shafts in head bent, my new metle grips made it tho. My radix tail blades good, my mp5 exhaust is good.

I had the sport version, the g10 frames totally trash all 3 peices. cluch bearing broke, there is a pile of stuff in a pic there, thats the only usable stuff, plus the engine block, regulater, blades, tail blades, tail cases, govoner + senser. Lost all ball link but what was left on flybar cage and the ones that connected to servo arms + tail linkage. I might not have mentioned everything, but i still havnt counted everything

The pics, there not perfect but I was in big hurry so i snaped a few fast, no footage of crash.

i did use loctite, it was fine when i did an auto just 10 secsonds before that, no vibration, if it was loose it would have showed, i just had it apart the night before so i know there was new loctite on it.

no, i had metal ones, the grip, and the blade left the feathering shaft, it cant be said for sure but that screw came loose in that little time, dont you think you coud tell if it was loose, the blade would pull that grip out and cause a shake, i have a caliber 5 that he grip came loose on it was shaking really bad, so i pushed on grips and instantly noticed it was loose, i check this one the flight before because i upgraded dampers, i wanted to make sure they were still tight, it was, i just did an auto about 30 seconds before it came apart with no shake at all

i feel your pain the good thing is no animals were hurt in the making of this production (accident) , LOL

seriously I would no re use those Radix Main Blades there is no way to see if there is any stress cracks in the inside of the carbon it is not worth it

lets say 4 months passes by you have gotten a new kit and fixed all the damages do you really want to risk all of that with questionable main blades

they could break apart just spooling them up and you or your pet could get hurt ..

the blades wernt the problem, do you mean the crash might have cracked them on the inside or are you saying that all the Radix blades are junk? and not to use any of them?

anyways, i will put another set on because i want a balanced matched set, 1 blade is all messed up so i wont use the other one, it wont match to any other ones i have, i have a set of the same type ofblades that a linkage went through and i just epoxied it, but the other side of that set it good, ill just used that one epeoxied blade while breaking in my engine on my rappy 50, the head speed wasnt high and the crack dint really weeken the blades, i took off tho, prolly trash them.

well, it might only be 2 to 3 weeks till it flying again, i had money saved up for an aurora when it came out, i took from it to pay for new kit, ill buy head for engine and use it, ill send my servos in and have them looked at while i use the gyro and servos i had set back for my aurora, ill pick up main blades when they come in at my local hobby shop.

$

How much did it cost to get all the damage repaired, or did you scratch it and get another kit, may be more cost affective...

OH MY GOSH!

I thought my recent 600E crash was bad- at least my electronics and motor survived (otherwise almost a completely new kit).

Sorry about that- hope you have better luck with the new one. You get the chance to improve all the things that you might have thought weren't quite as you'd have liked anyway.

Futaba might be able to rebuild the gyro/amp.

Never, ever, ever, ever give up.

I suffered a similar crash just recently and the parts came to more than the cost of a new kit?????? I just went and spent some more money and got on with it.
As someone said, T-Rex's don't crash nicely. They take no prisoners and seem to self destruct. My O.S.Hyper took the brunt of the crash and the landing gear ripped the cooling fins clean off. It's not nice to crash, especially as you seem to be doing very well, (3D etc.) but just think how many times you got away with it......! So all I can offer is my condolences. Don't let it stop you! Buy a new one and start over.
Good luck buddy!

I bought a new one, every thing new, i sent some stuff back to be repaired, it will be back a few weeks from now, i have my new one assembled, wasnt to enthused on building it agin, but i had so many problems wit my new one, first, my first flight the radio locked out, i had no control, right before it hit the gorund control came back, i have throttle fail safe now, lol, the second thing was the govoner was all out of wach and it kept it at 1600 rpm all the time, i had accidently set it wrong, so i had to carfully pull fuel line off wit my 35 perent yak 54's wing tube. then at home we went to re-route some wires cause someone said we needed to, and when we started it and i flew it it got a glitch and went right hard, i have a ditch in my front yard from main blades and tail blades, but dint hut nothing, we went ahead and put another new set of main blades on it agin tho to be safe, so, we went and bought a new dx7 and put in it, we had one trhottle problem then, we had blades off this time and it took off, the goverer kept it from reving to high, i pulled the full line but it still bent flybar when it reved up and smack me on the wrist, lol. It is all fixed and flying better then old one now, i like it. I am just really coutious now, i only fly when it feel right, because this cost us $2500 wit the new stuff and radio. but it ok, i wanted 2.4 anyways.
