e-Gaui Hurricane 200 & 550 - EP100 > 6-7 minute flight time? Hurricane help

I am thinking of a Hurricane 500. I have several align 3d lipos rated at 22C. I have been researching a lot and need help making a decison. I do not do 3d, sport flying is where I like to be unless I have a sponsor. I have read anything from, flight times should be limited to 4 minutes to spare the lipos to 6 to 8 minute runs. I am aware that 20 minutes is possible with a 5s 4000mah pack which I currently (no pun intended), do not have. My three choices are:

Gaui with limited flight times.

Replace Eco 8 with the new Royal and get 15 minute flights with my 3s packs.

Get a Pegasus nitro heli with .18 engine for 15 minute flight times with incredibly small amounts of fuel to use my 4 gallons of 30% fuel.

I had a logo 10 once and loved the way it flew (before lipos). Didn't like my swift. Is the Gaui almost as good as a logo 10 in flight characteristics and what are some truly realistic flight times with 3s 2100 mah 22C packs in series?

Thanks in advance.

I don't have a lot of helicopters to compare with but I think the Hurricane flies great.

I got 7 min flighttime from my 2200mAH batteries. For sportflying maximum rotor rpm is not required and lower rotor rpm gives longer flighttimes.

Thanks for the reply. I guess you were using the 14T pinion?

I have been getting 5 minutes conservatively out of tp 2100 prolites(15c). I have heard that the 22c rating is a bit of stretch for those Align packs. The popular opinion is,I believe, that they prone to puffing under moderate amp draw.

I meant to do that!!!

Do you know if they will work for gentle circuits?

Well it will be kinda hard to tell since they are supposed to discharge at 22c which should be somewhere around 45-50 amps constant. Surge is what you have to worry about when it comes to the overheating. Try them and see is the best advice I can give.

5-6 minutes will be very realistic with the stock motor (890kv) it will fly very nicely but not a power house (not for the stick banger) if you go with a longer flybar from a Raptor it will roll nicely as well

what is the most voltage the stock gaui motor can handle? can you run more than 6s? maybe like 7s or 8s?

The Royal is the new version of the eco 8 go here http://www.ikarus-modellbau.de/onli...21549bafa9b1b83

In flight video here http://youtube.com/watch?v=BaGxeIMwoy8

I had the original eco 8 and stopped counting fights at 150. The reason I've decided to go with the Royal is flight characteristic and batteries. The amp draw is low as is weight. As a result you can use 3s lipos with great flight times. A 3s4p will easily give 15 minute sport flights. The new Royal is said to have crisper roll and pitch traits. I would have gone with the Hurricane for sure but I wanted a larger heli with flight times that would allow me to use the 3s batteries and charger which I already own.

Here is an onboard video flying over the neighbor's house and around my neighborhood with the old eco 8. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Rc1ffqnFz0

Hi Skypup,

Thanks for the info!

I checked out the link and the videos.

I like the one of you flying around your neighborhood, pretty cool! What did you use to film that?

Thanks Brent

You're welcome. Any questions about the eco PM me. Keep that topic off of this list.

I was using my wife's koolpix camera which I later managed to destroy and had to replace
