pretty easy to find this information by visiting a store that sells both-->

Logo 10 is 'apparently' widely considered the benchmark of this size helicopter.

I have a Gaui 550 and am extremely happy with it.

The Logo is considered a very good heli although it has had some issues with gears etc similar to the early Hurricanes.

However

When you take cost into consideration i believe the Hurricane is by far the best value for money heli in this size bracket.

Also take into consideration what spares and advice you can get locally unless like me you are a forum junkie and dont mind ordering all your spares online!

Just my two cents

Side by side, the Logo is beefier and heavier. The blade grips are half again as big and thick as the Hurricane's. This Logo is the stretched version. Both helis have 515 blades.

I haven't rung out the Hurricane yet...maybe tomorrow.

I flew both the Logo 10 and the Hurricane today back-to-back. The Hurricane is bone stock, S3151, MSComposit 515 blades, JR 500T Gyro/9254. The heli flew very well on two 2200 3S batteries. I first tried a mismatched pair of Hyperion/Apogee, same mAh, different discharge rates. The power was fine, though nothing spectacular. I set my timer for 4 minutes, and came down with very hot batteries (160* F). I tried two Air Thunders next. Better power, but lost significant power after 2 minutes. Found out later that one cell had died. Next tried two EVO Flightpower 2170s'. They were very good. Great power, 2170 on the headspeed. I quit after 3 minutes, and haven't re-charged yet, so I don't know how much I took out of them. Finally I tried a Hyperion 3300 5S. Headspeed was 1950 and the heli had a noticable lack of pop.

Comparing the Logo 10 and Hurricane.

The Logo, I fly on a 5S Air Thunder 5000mAh battery. It started as a basic version, but I've upgraded it to a 10 3D, adding all ball bearings, a metal washout, swash, carbon tail, longer boom, 3d paddels, Align 440mm flybar. It runs with 515mm Rotortech blades. I also put in the Align 600XL motor with a 15 tooth pinion and an Align 75A speed control. It flies well now, though it took a lot of tweaking.

Out of the box, the Hurricane 550 is by far the better performer, and cheaper to boot. The stock UltraFly motor is very good for my style of flying (sport, learning inverted). Both helis are very stable inverted. The Logo feels a little pitchy in FFF. The Hurricane feels light and responsive, but still solid in the hover, like a TRex 600E.

I'd like to get a six cell battery for the Hurricane, using two 3S batteries worries me for some reason. I'd also like more flight time.

Cool David... Thanks for the post back to us!!

Keep letting us know what you think.

Check out readyheli.com... they have FP Evolite 4250s for $100 apeice. I fly these... and I like them.

7.5 min flight time... or so... depending on your motor, pinion, and style.

i had a hurricane with the stock set up i just sold,
i flew it with two t/p extreme 2070's 4 min flights, batteries alittle warmer then i like them to be, i put back 1610 mah running ms 515's, with the stock power system i was not impressed with the power. it was silky smooth but lack power no extreme flying,
now my logo 3d im running tango 45-10 motor on 6 cell t/p extreme 3850's almost ten min flight time and power to spare, not as silky smooth as the hurrican but fff is better, sold the hurrican, i needed more run time to enjoy my flights yes it cost more but by the time you upgrade the hurrican with all the carbon and metal, well you get my point, not trying to bash the hurrican but i like the logo alittle better.

The jury's still out for me. The flight time is going to be a biggie. If I can't get better than 4 minutes or so, and that at the risk of my lipos, then I'm not going to be a fan for long. I hope to try a FP 3300 or 3700 brick. If it doesn't fit, and I can't make an easy mod, I know it'll fit in my Logo.

i was flying it with the evo 3700, made it heavy and the motor after 4 mins was very hot along with the batteries. i also flew it with max amps 4000, same weight as the evo 3700's, same thing, i wouldnt risk the batteries for another min of flying, it felt like the motor was on fire

Hi David,

Sorry for taking so long to get back to your question.

The Evolite 4250s fit if you stack one on top of the other. The stock fiberglass canopy does fit over them, and I can get the 2 sides to fit on their mounts... but the canopy does not quite come down enough to get the bottom mount to work (the hole in the canopy over the post)... the hole is about 3/4 of an inch short of making it to the post. I have been using one of my little girls elastic hair bands to go through the hole in the canopy... and twist it around the post. This works OK for now... will make something better soon.

I am getting 7 to 7.5 flight time on these batteries.

I normally fly in Normal mode... and am doing basic sport style flying... except I do like to do hard climb outs... because this heli and my setup make it so damn fast and fun... so there will be 5 or 6 of those thrown in.

I am flying:
500 RCP carbons
Revco gears with a 24t pinion
75a align ESC
align BEC for the 821s on cyclic and 401/9254
RCP 1000kv motor... which is an upgrade motor readyheli used to sell. If I had to guess... I would think a z30 would be more efficent... and simular in amp draw.

I havn't been able to bog it, and a good 3D pilot I let fly it on these 4250s... couldn't either... and he flew the heck out of it, with all of the moves.

Ecoheli - I am pretty sure these batteries can support a z30 (18c x 4250= 76.5 amps continuous)... they do this motor just fine... and a z30 is probaly more efficent. Check with John at readyheli.com... he sells the Century 600+... which I heard is a re-branded z30 - and the Evolite 4250s are on sale there now for $100 apeice.

Thanks Brent, good info.

I flew today with Apogee 3800mAh's. They were much better, I used 60% in 4:30 of flight.

Flew the Logo today, too. I noticed a horrible vibe/wobble about halfway through the flight. Landed hard and fast and found I had lost a paddle!! WTF? I always wondered what would happen flying with one paddle...

Brent, how many cells on the 4250 batts? And why such a big pinion? I'm running a 14T pinion on the stock motor with two 3s batts in series (6s).

That's a good idea, I've been experimenting, and a FP 6s 5000mAh brick will fit on the top, but the canopy won't hook on the bottom. I don't think I'd want to use such a massive battery, anyway.

BTW, I flew Thursday, with a 5S Hyperion 3800, charged today and found I had only run it down 36% in 3 minutes. The performance wasn't that great, but that bodes well for a low milliamp 6S from TP or FP.

The 4250s are a 3S battery.

I am using the Revco gears - so I use a different pinion to get the head speed I am looking for. I am actually thinking of changing to a 23t revco pinion (from the 24t) that I have here - trying to get some more flight time from it.

The only hold up for me, is that I am liking the hard and fast climb outs I can do now... with the 23t pinion, I will miss having them be so amazingly fast.

Thanks for the info on the 5S 3800 - let us know what flight times you get at 80% discharge.

what are your throttle curves with the 24t pinion? I have the same setup and am using the 21t pinion and running a flat 100% curve with the evo 2500 packs and 7sA123's, both setups i get 4.5 minute flights.
performance is great on the evo's but lacking head speed on the A123's i will probably be going to the 23t pinion soon. now my batteries are not hardly warm at all.

Hi Jon,

Let me get back to you on that... I can't remember, and I am swamping at work these last few days of the week. I will take a look this weekend, and post this back to you.

Thanks!
