It's Back Guys!!!!!

I am pround to annouce that the Mid America R/C Heli Fun Fly is back. After a brief hibernation the event is back for 2008 and looks to be stronger than ever. Hosted by the Detroit Aeromodlers this event will be the premiere r/c heli event in the state possibly the midwest, excluding IRCHA. Here are the Pertinent details:

Dates: Saturday and Sunday June 28th and 29th with open flying all day Friday the 27th.

Location: The Detroit Aeromodelrs Club field at Joy Rd. and Spinozza in Detroit. Featuring (9) large flight stations for non-stop flying action. The field is close to several fast food places and convience stores, plus we will have the usual dogs and burgers on site.

Events: There will be events for pilots of all levels we are planning a novice event, an intermediate event, an advanced event and possibly drag racing.

Activities: We are planning a group trip to MGM Grand Casino Friday night and a trip to a nice resteraunt on Saturday night.

Landing fees will be: $20 on-site.

We currently have verbal commitments from the following Feature Demo Pilots:

We are really working hard towards making this a great event with alot of good flying and good times after dark. We are working on a website with more detailed information. I will continue to post info as it becomes available.

Mid America vs. Hirobo Cup

We Midwesterners have been lucky to have the HIROBO CUP 2006, 2007 in Toledo, Ohio just one week earlier than your event. So, first, has HIROBO said and have the Toledo Weak Signals said they won't be having the HIROBO CUP in the Midwest in 2008? And if they wanted to come back to Toledo, haven't you piggy-backed onto their success and crowded their event and date? If HIROBO wanted to repeat the Toledo event your Detroit event would be better placed towards the end of MAY of 2008.
If Hirobo doesn't want to return to Toledo this year, then great, your event makes sense.

We have had discussions with Hirobo about our event. We spoke with them before we set our date. They said they will be involved and keep the date in consideration, if, and when, they set a date for Hirobo Cup in 08.

By no means does this mean Hirobo is not doing Hirobo Cup in 08. Please do not misconstrue my statement.

Things are looking good.

Things are starting to come together. So far we have a great line up of feature demo pilots with more people continuing to contact us. We are working on a website with more information and securing a hotel large enough to house everyone coming in from out of town, so stay tuned this thing is going to be big.

Yes we are in the final planning stages. Just wrapped a room block with an area hotel. Flyers are going out to local clubs and hobby shops this week. And the website and Hotel info will go up this weekend. In the process of confirming the demo pilots right now. The following have just reconfirmed:
