Robbe Cuatro - Millennium - Nova - Dyna-X > Best Ball links

After losing an expensive heli to a ballink I'm just wondering if anyone has found a nice strong replacement to suit the Robbe pushrods and balls. The greyish Robbe links that came with my Cuatro kit seemed to fit nicely but were easy to pop off because they are soft. I was looking at the Rocket links advertised on Quick UK's site, any idea if they are a good substitute?

Thanks, the ones I have here seem a little lose but they have been in a big crash. Are they a really nice fit for both the Robbe pushrods and the balls?

Rocket City links were always the favorite, but they can be a bit tight on Robbe balls. I use them, but had to make a ball reamer out of an old Robbe ball and a file!

I've never ever had a Rocket City ball link fail - not even in crash.

Yep the Rocket City links are the best there is even though I've never had any problems with the black Robbe links. Years ago I bought around two hundred of them so I haven't run out yet. The greyish links are softer than the black ones for sure. I've always thought that the greyish links have been out of production for years.

You can actually tighten the links once or twice by heating them or by coking them. It actually works, but if done too many times the links get brittle. I have done this to all links of my FAI ships some times. Oh you have to pop off the link before heating.

Cheers

Mick

i would check carefully if there was no binding(over movement)
I never seen those links pop away, in fact i can tell you we supplied some to different industries where they checked all different links and choosen to work with Robbe links.

Thanks Jarno, I checked some of the black Robbe ones that my mate got last week and they are better than the grey but still softer than the Rocket ones.

Hi Alex,

It was deffinately the link, I would never put one on any of my models again. I thought they were a good idea at the time because I was told they are loaded with some sort of lube and was quite happy to see them in my Cuatro kit. They felt nice and tight right up until the end, they are just to soft and can be popped off extremely easily (normally inwards).

I wasn't sure until last week when I saw the ones on the gasser, I went to do a tracking change and popped the ball back onto the swashplate and it went past the ball and rested on the shaft. I could pop it back and forth with nearly no pressure. After checking the rest of the heli over we decided to change them all over to the black version. This Cuatro had done about 10 flights when set up as a nitro and they were basic circuits.
