This was my first exposure to FAI type flying. Much harder than it looks that's for sure. I also witnessed one of the greatest saves I've ever seen. Loss of orientation at several hundred yards out and passing the radio to another individual, seeing the heli drop into the tree line, and then suddenly come out flying back towards the field, Amazing! Great time for sure.

I had a great time for sure and learned a lot about what it's going to take to get through "C" schedule.
The save was a lot luck, as I did not realize I was in throttle hold when he passed the transmitter to me. Fortunately, he flipped it out of throttle hold and into idle up before the model hit the trees. That's why it did the three or four pirouettes as it started climbing back out of the trees. WHEW!
We really appreciate the use of the field and all you guys showing up. DiPeri had such a good time, he drove down from Nashville three times.

Thanks Gordie for the great save. I thought it was time to rebuild again and I was amazed that you saved it. Too bad I don't have a video of it.

I have to say that this event was better than a contest. It was low key low pressure fun event. Everyone was very friendly and very nice. Great bunch of people and I highly recommend it to anyone even vaguely interested in FAI.

Thanks again to Gordie for the save and help, Steve Helms for the great hospitality, and Tim, Dave and Ben for all the help.

It was a great time for all especially some of us that arent performing FAI. We all went down the flight line where Terry Thomas was teaching us the ropes and just how hard it is to hover still. You all want to talk about skill. We were all blaming our setups on the reason we cannot hover still.. Terry took one of our birds up and you coudnt tell the difference between him flying his or the other. Thanks Terry for spending the time with us, all of the guys were a great help and full of info. Gordie even set up one of our birds for FAI, I think I will do some pracitice with it. Only if all of you could of been there to see Gordie's save of Niko's bird, Holy cow!!! Then to prove to be a man of steel he kept flying the routine hehe, I would have landed and had to change lmao.

Thanks for coming to our field guys it was great, I know we look forward to it again.
