| I'm kinda on the fence about a 5yr. old flying but I saw the kid fly at ircha and he did have pretty good skills. And if you think about it, the two crashes with injuries at ircha were from adults, one who flew so close to himself he crashed into himself , and the other was a bystander who was taking pictures too close to the flight line when another adult pilot crashed and he got hit by the heli.
So, if safety rules don't have to be followed by the adults, why the uproar about the kids age when he crashes?
The guy who flew to close to himself, I havent seen one post on RR about how unsafe that was, let alone the fact that pilot was not only risking his own life showing off, but also the lives of all the people around him. But because he is a freind to most, we just chalk it up as an "accident"
I just read that link, kind of brutal, when a little kid with some mad skillzs {but still a little kid} crashes, all of a sudden the roar on the internet is ready to ban without knowing the facts of why he crashed?
Who knows, maybe it was pilot error, but maybe it wasn't.
If safety isn't suported and enforced better, it will only be a matter of time before more people get hurt or worst. And the example needs to be led by the top pilots, those guys are really the ones setting the example for the rest.
Flame suit on.
