500hdx (hibrid machine)

Before start : sorry for my bad English!
Finally guys I can said : " oh my God, now this Hely is incredible faster"
Yes I finalized last week all Head modification like advanced in the last e mail, I tested last WE, than I make some new adjustment and now I can promise you that the 500 HDX like I assembled (see the picture attached) is very fast, quick and precise.

What I do:
1) I change the frame, I used the se , because is lighter and better balanced for 3D, compared to the SE standard frame.
2) different position of upper mixing arm (like 600) very nimble 3d
3) shorter fly bar seesaw holder
4) larger slot into the head fly bar hole (was binding and make noise)
5) new position of pitch head linkage
6) longer fly bar (used / cut from 600 fly bar)
7) 600 carbon fiber 3d paddles ( I try many paddles avaivl for the 600 but this one give the best response)

I feel to fly like my 600E, maybe faster, incredible power with the 5s and Gaui (hurricane motor) 18t pinion.
I use the 3300 TP the total weigh in fly is 1650g.
Thanks to the head modification, I get +/- 12 (with the main shaft in the central hole) and 7 in the plate without any bind.

I try Mah and Sab blades, Mah are faster Sab are more precise and use more power.

One more suggest for the ESC, i used align 75, some firth fly the setting was incorrect and I strip 2 main gear, than I reset the ESC and the last setting are: 1-1 , 2-2, 3-3, 4-2, 5-2.
With the new setting I make 25 very hard fly with tic tock and pops using all pitch to stress out the machine, perfect no trouble and every think still perfect.

One other future test is use 6s 2200 with A3012xl motor and 18T that can give same or more power, longer fly (less current) and save in total (motor and battery) 150g of weight… than the hely can fly around 1500g… will be amazing!

I wish that the pictures attached can show the Hely, eventually let me know if you need some dimension.

I fly my Lepton with 6s2000mah with Hacker A30-12XL + 18T, surely you will love it.

By the way, I just checked all your pics. They show all push rods are not vertical, always slope ... is it because of setup problems or the frame restricts it?

how much is your heli?

We also have some mods to change and we are able to get up to 11 degree pitch at middle hole. Could be 12 if we use the last hole. Also working on faster tail rotor ratio.

I have a Lepton Lx than i can compare!

Last WE i perform new modification in the mixing head ratio.
like you can see in the pics the head now is the best head tried right now, more (but more) faster that the Align 450 v2 and 600.
With the new mix ratio, on in the central hole i can get now +/-16 (I reduced by tx the pitch and i use +/- 13) but this modify, give the possibility to get more of 10 in cyclic without bind or noise at 3000 rpm.
For very hard-core 3d I use expo because now the response is insane! Absolutely fun for me!
Wath I like now is the noise that the blade make at each 3d manouvers. They heat the air! Praaa Praaa, love it!!!

Now I collected more of 200 fly (5 fly a day approx, some time like yesterday 11!!!) and I can assure that the Hely is my preferred from many other that I have (all Align E and N , lepton, rappy 90 , synergy).

Next step will be the 6s 2200 or 2500 and a30 12xl in place of the 5S 3300 and motor gaui (hurricane motor) to save 150 gr. But before i want finish my 5 packs TP.

also I added 5 gr in the tail and a .25 gr in the tail grip to compensate the gyroscopic effect and make the tail smoothly and precise like never before.

how many degree cyclic do you get? You can increase by selecting the last hole on the main shaft.

We try 13T tail pulley to increase tail ratio. Also can increase by using 62T front pulley but so far 13T tail pulley does the trick.

With my head modification in the central hole I can get +/- 16 max.
In the firth fly I test +-12 now I like more 14.
In the cyclic I can go over 10 I reduced at 9.
No binding / noise
The new mix lever design with longer fly bar and bigger paddle make the head response faster that ever.
Also no need to go in the last hole. More you move up the shaft/head slower is the roll cause the baric center.
So the best (need to try) is get my fly travel in the inner hole to reduce the total height of the Hely and get faster response.

About the tail, I fly with 3000 head speed, I use the logictec 6100 with his servo, I changed the tail blade and I use plastic 68MM blade from robbe NO. S5070 easy to find in Italy.
Also i added 0.5 gr weight in the screw tail and with this modification tail is faster and precise.
For me no need different ratio.

Your proposition can be good if the head speed is lower like 2000 / 2500 than can be a option like Align makes for the t rex 450 pinion ratio. with my head speed i thinks that new ratio can be to much and the tail berings will use faster.

Now unfortunately i need travel one week for job, than no fly!!!! so sad.

I will organize to make a video soon than you can see a different hdx500 fly.

About the pignon and battery, with the gaui motor I use 18T with 5s TP 3300.
My trottle curbe is 90 80 75 80 90, head speed at 75 is 3000rpm.

Hi,

The 13T pulley will fit on HDX500SA and HDX500SE. I believe it also fits on lepton but not 100% sure. I hope to have them here next week so we can try on lepton.

That's good news. I think you will have a high demand for the larger main gear and the pulley. I think with that, the HDX, 3DX will compete well with the Trex500.

Yes I drill and tap M2mm a new hole 3mm inner respect the original.
But this mod by himself they don't make the monster agility that I have now, I will make a picture for each part modified with dimension note, than every body can make and enjoy with the hlx500.

The 1650g is thanks the sah frame, les parts lighter and better balanced. (just move the battery plate to get the hely balance).
