A hot start is when you haven't flown in a while, and you expect to be a little bit rusty, but your actual flying skills pick off right where you left off, or even better.

Am I missing something here... a hot start is when you start the engine with the throttle higher than idle, like say in idle up... the clutch grabs and if you arent holding on to the head, you spool up the heli... If you are holding the head, you ruin the clutch liner or at least damage it a little and after a bad hotstart, the clutch liner has to be replaced. Most of the time you grab the radio, find out why the throttle is going crazy and fix it... sometimes you have to pull the fuel line to stop it quickly or put your finger over the exhaust to choke the engine.... any way it happens, it scares the pee outa you and takes a wile to get your nerves back to start it up again.... most pilots only hotstart once or twice before they really check their radio before starting the engine

But Honey, I can't live with just stock.....

WHats the problem answering a simple question without starting to make fun of somebody?

Do you folks remember the days you looked at an inverted heli and thought "how the hell does it do that?". Shame on you.

Ozydego has the correct explanation. Yes, it will happen to you sooner or later and you won't forget it.

Glad it happen to me at 50% throttle and not 100%

Tony

A hot start can also occur when you select the wrong model in your radio vs. the model you are starting. It can go to full throttle when it starts this way. Ask me how I know....

I've gotten 2 hot srarts on my dx7/ar7000 so far.

Now i check to see if the rx has intialized properly or not.

Instead of going for the tx to find out why i hold the head tight and pinch off the exhaust deflector to shut it down.

Sorry mate, there is NEVER a good reason to troll, unless you are simply trying to make enemies...

I have explained this many times but if you don't know I will tell you. Guys were posting....or as you guys call it Trolling in the thundertiger forum telling people how great the 600n was when they were just asking questions about their raptor. I know it was stupied but I was making a point.
