Why did they make the boom so small in diameter? I look at my T-rex 450xl and the boom is a good size to avoid any contact with the belt and boom...

As a result the belt is shredding away when at high speeds, at my headspeed of 2700 after every flight i can see the belt's powdery remains. Kinda frightening :O

Any1 got a solution to this? Or do i have to go make my own modifications again...

If the belt is contacting the boom, you perhaps need to run it a bit tighter. I'm running pretty much the same headspeed on my King2 and with approx 100 flights now I'm not seeing any issues with the belt.

I learned to fly on a Trex, I learned to crash on a Blade CP...

i put some silicone lube on the belt and belt pullies, it stopped the belt from getting out of line. worked for me so far 4 weeks no belt issuses.

I would destroy belts in a few flights on my T-rex before I started with silicon spray. With the silicon I have had the same belt for the entire summer. Same goes for my HBK2 with a healthy soaking of silicon spray once a week I am still on belt #1 for the entire summer. The belt still looks ok. I use the silicon spray that is used for rubber, metal, and plastic parts.

I`ve been running the stock Align belt on my 450SE for just over 230 flights now (all logged). I`ve never used lube/silcon and the belt still looks and runs great.

More than anything, I think this tends to suggest that proper belt tension is the most important factor of all.
