Align T-REX 600N 700N > YS OR OS on MP2 along with rex 600n

I fly damn hard and except for the occasional rear bearing dont wear them out.. Wearing them out "fast" consists of running them lean. I run 30% fly hard and have a hover HS of around 2050-2100.. with a good loaded HS of around 1900-1925. Makes for a very peppy airframe. The guys burning up hypers are hovering or flying around at 2050-2150 those that are actually flying hard are rarely unloaded, keeping themselves way below the 17k mark on RPM which is not out of the window for the hyper just above the top of the power band.

Saleh, OS states that the practical RPM range is 2k-20k.. But most experience a good drop in power just before 18k. I have found in my own personal experience that gear ratios between 8.45-8.7 have excellent response time around 2050-2100 while dropping down into the power band right after the "pop" received from running a higher HS.. The problem is running around in a hover at 2050-2100 is way overkill and leaves the engine unloaded.

I do not have the YS50 specs, but I am sure the RPM and ranges are comparable simply do to the fact both engines are built well and the RPM limit and power created are factors of porting, timing, and mass. The same problems happen to a YS if run at high RPM unloaded.. I fly all but one of my 90's on YS engines. but for 50 sized there is no comparison.

The OS has 152 degrees of timing, the YS has 160 degrees of timing so it is more suited to higher rpm with a higher power band.

Have to agree YS50 with a CY MP5 has way more power than a OS50 Hyper with a CY MP5, I have tried both from new and YS had better power.

I also like the ys because I set the needle and fly. OS I was always chasing the needle.

Cheers, MM

As Catzazz said, you're never chasing the needle on the YS. That is probably one of my biggest reasons for going with the YS. The OS needs constant tuning from morning to afternoon, the YS I do not even touch, plus its consistent throughout the flight, not rich at the beginning, ok for most of the tank, and then lean near the end.

Ok, I have been running the YS50 with the MP5 and it's a bitch to tune. I have not been happy at all with it...maybe I just got a bad motor?

This morning I went back to my OSHyper with the new Align pipe. All
that I can say is "". For the first time since I got this Nitro I
am thrilled. It actually will preform as good as or maybe better than my Electric 600 which rocks!

Stay away from the MP5. A lot of guys are going back to there old pipes at least in SoCal area, plus the new Align pipe looks awesome if you are into bling.

I second the Align Pipe. It absolutely works killer with the Hyper! Also VERY easy to tune. Well done Align making a cheap high performance muffler! Let's hope they do the same when the 700N comes out...

The Align muffler is not really bling,it works very good. Bling only adds looks and no improvement to function. The Align muffler should work very good on the YS also.

I've been running the Align pipe on the YS and I am loving it. It is a big improvement over the Hyper with MPII.

As I stated above, I love the fact that I do not constantly need to re-tune like I did with the OS. I first flew my YS at Sea-level, then went back home (2700' altitude) and I only changed the needle one click and it was dialed. I have not touched it since.
