is there a problem with the plastic fans I need to know about? Are they cooling the hypers enough? I just got mine and a brand new hyper 50 dont want to burn it up because of a crappy plastic fan.

Cooling seems to be OK but they are flexing to much and throwing the magnets of the governor. Align had to put these fans in the kit to verify that the saying that there is no perfect heli.

okay well crap I hate the thought of that, well guess I will add that to my buy list thanks for info. I personally think there is room for improvement, I dont like the plastic bearing blocks, since plastic fatigues to easy. I also dont like the plastic on the head, but I alsready bought the metal blade grips and when the missing arms come out I will up grade that and then it will be perfect

Question, could you not just use an optical sensor instead of magnets? Or am I missing something?

The stock plastic fan in my stock 600N was terrible quality. It was warped and when mounted wobbled on the balancer. I can see why people are throwing magnets. I ordered the metal fan yesterday.

I was thinking of using an optical sensor with my GV1 however I'd have to mount it on the outside of the frames and cut a hole in the fan shroud. There simply isn't enough room on the inside. I would also need a mounting bracket. I'm going to use the GV1 magnetic sensor for now.

The bearing blocks are more of a stiff composite then cheap plastic. That combined with the alum hex inserts make them plenty strong. They have been working great in the 600E for over a year and no failures I've heard of in the 600N. Align now has alum bearing blocks out, however I just think they will add unwanted weight to the heli. Same goes for several other alum upgrades, add hop-ups wisely and not just at will.

Also keep in mind Align has recognized the problem and has released a new composite fan that will be in all new kits. If you don't want the cost or weight of the alum option, you can pick up the new plastic one for $8.
