Ok, I had an interesting "event" happen to me the other day with my 600 Pro. It was the 10th flight on the machine and it was the first flight where I really took it up and started doing any 3d with it. I had just completed some backwards rolls when the tail suddenly cut loose and started piro'ing uncontrollably. It was slower than one would expect if the tail just quit completely making me think something in the drive train was slipping. I hit hold and waited for the piro'ing to stop, but it didnt. Thats when I realized it was spinning to the right which told me it was a t/r pitch control problem. I managed to land it without and damage and upright. As I walked over to it, I noticed the tail rotor was stuck in full deflection with the slider against the gearbox and wouldnt move. I looked and saw that one of the links going from the slider to the grip had flipped over-center taking the blade to a pitch angle nearly perpendicular to the plane of rotation. It had locked the t/r into full right deflection. I manually flipped it back to the way it was supposed to be and it was working normally again. I know this did not happen on the ground and given what it did in flight, Im almost positive it happened in the air. Has anyone else had this problem or heard of this problem happening before? Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.

I have heard of this happening with Raptors too. You have to make sure your Gyro limits are set right as if they are overdriven they can lockover on you just like you describe.

Pull your tail rotor drive shaft out and mic the OD all the way from the blade end to the bearing. Mine was machined incorrectly. The diameter was too large just on the outer side of the bearing (there is a step there) causing the slider to bind when it moved all the way towards the bearing. This causes a lockup of the slider as I think you're describing. The slider should be very free moving all the way to the bearing. If you find this to be true on your machine just chuck the shaft in a drill and dress it up a bit until it's smooth.

I havent flown it again yet since that has happened, but first on the list is to knock the throws down a little. I set this up the same way I set up my evos (50s and 90s) and my MA stuff, Furys and Stratus' so I really didnt expect any difference with the 600N. The 600E doesnt seem to have the problem, and thats WITH the torque tube. Makes for a very interesting flight, I can tell you that much.

Shuttles used to come with a little piece of rubber tube about 3/16 of a inch that you put on your tail shaft so the slider would not over drive and flip the grips as you describe to what happen to yours.

I noticed the same flipped grip problem w/ mine. It actually flipped when the tail touched momentarily on a landing. Didn't notice it untill next takeoff. Almost crashed it. Not sure it's possible for it to flip in flight??? So what's the best way to fix???

If you're worried about it a piece of fuel tubing sliced to the right thickness and placed around the shaft against the bearing will take care of it for you. Endpoints set properly will work as well.

There's a picture around somewhere but it isn't complicated.

I've had it happen once, but noticed it on the ground before I started up. Didn't think it could happen in flight, guess I was wrong
