I have seen people use it to trim the model after it is set up,even then if you use the std trim does the same thing it moves the end points.(on some transmitters).

Here is my two cents:

Attempt to center mechanically as best you can, then USE SUBTRIM.

As long as your do not have the end points at Max value (150) you should be OK.

Just don't substitute sub-trim in place of mechanical set up.

I have a little sub trim in most of my servos. And yes, I rotate the horns around the servo in an attempt to get it perfect, but.... I use sub-trim for the rest.

I'd rather be flying

This is not entirely true. I dont have anywhere near max travel and my servo's max out when cylic is added to collective at certian times on my CCPM Evo 50.

well is anyone using hitec 6965 servos on the cyclic with the align horns? They have so many positions on the horns but it seems they are all the same in terms of how far off center they are. I tried every spot so unless I get the hitec servo programmer for like 150 bucks, i am stuck with like 70 on the subtrim for 2 servos and 30 something on the other.

You may be correct in that using subtrim will move the endpoints, but that is what you need to happen for the throws to stay equal either side - sub trim is only used to centre the servo, I believe the throws stay equal either side of the new zero.
