To hover is divine, the alternative is rather PLANE.

Wow sorry about your crash. Could not imagine them letting you fly so close to the aircraft.

I have to agree,, Even though the radios and equipment are now the best they have ever been. The skills of the pilots in general are the best they have ever been. R/c Helicopters are the most ballanced and controlable they have ever been.

There still isn't any improvment in the human ability to think clearly about whats a good idea and whats not. Taking into account that at any time for many different reasons these machines can cover a huge distance and cause lots of damage, without any input from the pilot. Flying in that location has got to be a foolish excorsize of faith.

Don't get me wrong here, the picture is great and you were lucky to get the sequence on camera. nice job. I thought it would have been good if you had the few frames after impact. But hey can't have everything can we!!!

that is stupidity at its best, nice flying just a very stupid location, surely your insurance doesnt cover you for that, does it?
if you damage an aircraft not only is there the cost for the aircraft to be repaired but also the money it loesses being stuck on the ground, this could run into hundreds of thousands?

I have a load of spots... two of which are white heads

You have only got to trawl through some of the other posts to realise that some flyers give no thought to safe distances etc.

I am amazed that the pilot had permission to be in that particular place. I wonder what insurance he had and if it would pay out in the event of a claim. I can't see him having BMFA in Malaysia

It seems like the saftey regulations and guidelines arent too strict in alot of countries. Especailly in asia, I noticed this in korea when I was there a few months ago. I also noticed this in vietnam, and it seems to be that way in Malaysia. Its a bit more casual over there.

A few years ago it used to be real bad in korea, where they use to fly 3d right over the spectactors head. Then a school girl got fataly injured by a run away helicopter, and now the gov has cracked on safety a bit more.

Back in the mid early 90's, I was asked to fly serveral demos at air shows. I used to fly right over the runways. Many times times my spoter would tell me to "pull it in", which meant that there was a full size aircraft either taking off or landing. Once the aircraft would pass, I would then go "back out". Thinking back that was pretty stupid also. One time I almost crashed after I took off so close behind a full size biplane that it's wake really thrashed my x-cell .60 around.

some things still amaze me

I can't believe that either. I work for World Airways in the safety department, the costs associated with an aircraft out of service are enormous. Obviously someone wasn't thinking when this happened.

Nice photos, bad pilot!

Judging from alot of the safety records in that corner of the world I would think its safe to say it wasn't the top thing on this pilots mind.

Not surprising. It's a 3rd world country. There is probably debris all over the runways anyway.
