Does anyone own or fly helis from Graupner / Heim? I getting interested in the new Ultrastar 2000, does anyone have first hand expertise with it or other models? I would like to know what folks think of them.

BTW, the're coming out with a turbine heli this month, here is the link, I think it looks very expensive, uh... I mean fun.

I purchased the Unimechanics 2000LN mechanics and both the UltraStar and A109 fuse kits. Mechanics are done, and I am nearly finished the UltraStar installation. In parallel I've started the A109 construction.
My prior experience has been with a Raptor30 and a Piccolo, so we cannot compare this premium kit to those birds. However, I am simply awestruck at the quality engineering and construction of the Graupner. High quality (NTN) bearings throughout, and shimming everywhere for absolute slop free fits. The mechanics take much longer to build due to the required shimming - but this is a one-time effort that yields unequalled quality. I have taken many photos during my recent construction that I will soon put on a build-up page. I am sure you found the v-east site which has a good buildup, but left out a bunch of things in my opinion.
Let me know if you have any other specific questions. I'll soon be able to let you know how she flys.

Thanks, for the info.

Dschmid4,
I would like to know how you think of the final product and the flight test. Please drop a list of specs of your equipment that you put on it too, I think that would be helpful. Have fun!

Vario/Heim

Heim

Just to correct someting_ Vario and Heim are NOT the same !! Vario originally started their business making tuning part for Heim, but soon their own dsigns evolved.

I have been using Graupner/Heim "Uni Expert" mechanincs for a few years. The design is actually impressive - at least when used in scale applications. It's relatively cheap and may not seem the most modern design, but the thing is that it just runs, runs and runs with minimum maintainance. Best of all is that UNI is probably the lightest 60 mechanics. It's actually possible to make a JetRanger weighing aprox 10 lbs - that's less than many pod'n boom designs.

Uni / Ultrastar has a rather special - but fine sound. It has sort of a turbine-like oversound, but it's quiet an very "healthy"-sounding

The Jetranger in my Gallery with floats is a Uni Expert with a Graupner Jetranger fuse.

Best regards
KillerBob

to get a sense of how big graupner/hiem really is get one of their big catalogs .. the book is like inches thick spared no expense in the glossy layouts.. a world class maker of r/c ..

some of the heli's do have a interchangable parts between machines as the designs are similiar ..

vario has evolved significantly in the same respect today . are synominous with the german r/c products lines of graupner / hiem / schutler / and robbe .

I can't wait until my Bank Account recovers for my 9Z purchase! I'll try to get catalogs from them all, if possible.

Dschmid4,
Are most of those parts the upgrade type or required to get the kit running? Except the no-duh parts, like the engine.
I saw the web site but I was not sure if they had everything needed in the boom & pod kits.

Thanks.

Graupner Heim

I fly a Uni 2000 mechanic in a Mega Star and love it. Smooth, quiet and fast! I have an Expert mechanic with an Ultra Star boom kit (Glass canopy, Tube drive) installed for sale. E-mail for info.

The mechanics are sold separate from the fuse kit.

MECHANICS:
If you go to the Graupner.com website you will find an english page, and you can download a PDF file of "New Items 2001" which shows the latest mechanics and the required options. Graupner recommends different gearsets depending on motor you choose. Kit includes tail mechanics. Basically, in addition to the mechanics I had to buy (reformatting previous note):
1922 OS .91 Motor
4448.107C Ring Gear (50T)
4448.126A Clutch Bell (26T)
4448.79A Clutch Shoe
2238A Exhaust Header
4448.103 Hexagon Starter Cone
4450.19 Optional Silencer Console
2258 Silencer
1234 Metal Swashplate -- UPGRADE (I hear they are now standard)

FUSE KIT
The pod & boom fuse kit includes landing skids, tail boom, canopy, and fins. Very high quality fiberglass body w/ carbon rods & rigid driven tail. Only extra thing to buy are 1266 Rotor Blades. Everything else in my previous posting above are needed for A109 scale fuse kit.
