| I just picked up a sky tach, after a year and a half of putting it off. First off, I can't believe that it cost me $90, as the functionality and craftsmanship was less than expected. Anyhow, I'm wondering about the accuracy of the unit.
I tested it on my MX450 and I was surprised at the readings. Motor package in that bird is a 430L, 35amp ESC both from align (SE drivetrain), 3cell, 2150mah 20C packs, 138tooth main gear, 11 tooth pinion, throttle is about 85%-90% during hovering, running 325 CF blades. A headspeed calculator puts the headspeed around 2800rpm, when tested, the tach shows a hovering headspeed of only 1350rpm. I was really surprised since this bird flys amazing and has plenty of climb-out power.
Something just doesn't add up. Can someone shed their opinion, or their experience with this tach? |
