Henseleit 3DNT - Rocket - 3DMP > Webra 91 and 3D NT gearing?

What gearing is needed to run the Webra 91 in a 3D NT? I want to use the OS 91 C spec HGL with 8mm crank, however, I think the 7.7:1 will be too low. Will the the 8.3:1 work? Thanks.

You are asking what gearing is required for the Webra because you want to use a 'C' Spec ???

I run the Webra on the standard 7.7 ratio. I think it is maybe a litte too low as the Webra seems to prefer running a little faster. I would like to try one of the alternative ratios just to see - Henseleit offers 7.7, 8.3, and 9.0. I am going to give the 8.3 a go when I get around to it.

With the 'C' spec don't forget you will need a left hand rotation kit as a reverse crank is not available for this engine yet

Hi Kaos,

You'll have to wait a bit for the "C" spec with 8mm Heim crankshaft. I've asked around and nobody has it yet :-(

To answer some of the questions you had in your earlier post. The engine needs to have the 8mm Heim crank and be of similar dimensions as the OS 91 FX/SX, therefore you're somewhat limited to engine choices (OS/Webra/Rossi). I haven't seen a YS with a Heim crank which doesn't mean it doens't exist.

The OS 91 FX specifically seems to have a bit better torque in the low end as compared to the Webra (as Carp already pointed out, but I think you can tune the engine for lower torque specifically if you use the MC carburetor or the Lötterle 11mm - the 12mm is best for higher rpm). Changing the ratio to 8.3 should solve any problems there but consider that a higher reving engine is louder. One of the appeals of the heli is a low reving engine on a pipe - hence quiet.

As for how awesome this heli is. Well, anyone that has flown one becomes addicted to it and won't fly anything else (it's really boring to fly my 30 now).

Enjoy!
