Aerobatic 3D Contest > GYRO importance

How important is a gyro for 3D? Is is ok to use the gy401, or do I need the 611. I am only limited to Futaba gyros since those are the only available where I am. I am doing inverted flight, upright funnels, trying to learn chaos...I just heard from a friend that the 401 cannot hold the tail whend doin high speed reverse flight, Is that true?

The gyro made "3D" possible for the most part. So you should use one. You are not limited to Futaba although they make very nice gyros. JR and CSM make good gyros also. The 401 can hold fine. If it doesn't hold in backwards flight than either the mechanical setup or the gyro setup is poor.

The 770 is quite alright actually.

Then you have options like the 770. There's also the JR 770, 770 and 770 which I can highly recommend. Then some others like the 770 and the 770.

Hehee...just kidding. It's supposed to read:

But yes, like already said. A good gyro is vital!

The 401 is an excellent gyro and will give you confidence in your 3d capability. The 601 and 611 have a better feel to them and the tail seems to be quicker. Probaly because of the servo used and the pulse rate from the gyro is quicker than on previous models.

720 is fantastic if you're prepared to put time into setup. 611 works great out the box as does the 601 although it's a bit on the mushy side. 560 is good for banging around and relatively easy to setup although it suffers temperature drift. 401 tends to be a bit wayward when pushed hard. Still waiting to try the DS760 but reports are looking good.

Then there's the new Curtis Y. Solid G gyro. Probably the best choise for 3d right now. Alot cheaper than the 611.

This is true until you have to add a good high speed tail servo price.

Recommend the Solid G gyro from CYE...

Very sophisticated piece of work, but yet, very simple to use.
No previous knowledge with setup issues is necessary. Just use one of the templatess, or change the parameters as you like to.

Best Regards,
Nadav Barak.

Solid G + 8900G = Still cheaper than the 611+s9256 I think?

I agree. As Solid G is not directly related to any Heli company, it is the 1st gyro with build in parameter optimized for the popular helis in the market. What an original and simple idea.

Are you having problems with your 401 or has it failed to hold the tail in any manouvers your doing

If it's been ok so far why change it. When it starts 'letting go' then upgrade to a 611

jpn, surely you can order stuff on the nett and have it posted? I have only ever bought giro's in this way without problems. Or, just go for the 611 - you will never regret it. I have one on my Raptor 90 and it opens the door to flying any way you want to!
