Gasser Model RC Helicopters > Which one to buy?

Have just been referred to this site. Looks like a great resource.
I'm in the market to buy a gas heli and would like to get some opinions as to which one to purchase. I am new to heli's and have been flying a lite machine's Corona (electric). I used to be an avid 3d plane guy, but am now on to heli's. I'm thinking of the Bergens Gas Intrepid w/ the G26. I would like to know any opinions of which are the best gas heli to go w/? Also I've heard some neg's about the G23 or G motors. Which is the Hanson motor im hearing about? I would eventually like to get into 3d as well. I've heard nothing but good things about gas Intrepid. Please help me out

You won't go wrong with the Bergen and G26, period. There is no competitor to this machine.

I have an xl gasser with the g23 which I like very much I also have a vario benzin trainer which I even like more. The benzin I find to be much smoother but they both are fine helies. The benzin has the g230rc.

If you are looking for 3D performance in a gas machine, Bergen is the only way to go.

Of course, I'm supposed to say that but I truely believe it.

Xcell gas is a beauty

I have the Xcell gasser and I've been flying it for 5+ years. Its an excellent machine, flys well and 3d's with the best of them. I am using a hanson motor in mine, but not a hanson pipe so not the whole potential of the motor (just the minair rear muffler) and I find the power adequate to do all my stunts.

This machine has logged 912 flights to date, and, best of all it stays together if the pilot is good . Thumbs up to Min Air for a good ship, and, I can't wait for a "fury" gasser when it comes out!

Thanks

Great,
thanks for all the input. It really helps out to get lots of opinions. Looking like X cell or Intrepid are the way to go. Thinking of going w/ the Intrepid.

The ONLY problem I have, with the Xcell is, with the company, not the machine. The machines are great! The people at HQ leave much to be desired. If you call there, you need to be someone "special" to speak with a Schoonard. This was true in 1980, and true today. You don't need to be someone special to speak to Larry, Chris, or Debra @ Bergen Helicopters. If you plan on an Xcell, buy it from Ron Lund, as he would be my first choice of Miniature dealers.

I'm gonna straddle this one.....

No, Not Malorie OR Naomi: the choice of which one.....

I have an Xcell gasser, Hanson engine......strong machine, very dependable.......its the one that rides in the back seat of my 4 door F-350....always, but always ready. I have a few Xcells, and parts are mostly interchangable if I need one in a hurry.....and Ron & Nathan are UPS ground next day ! Can't beat that..........well.....maybe......

I also have a Vario Dauphin with the benzine mechanics, G230 engine, Finestron (obviously) and it gets with the program. Very smooth machine, I just went to 4 servo 90^ CCPM on it. I can't even imagine using an Xcell gasser in it......

Thats the two choices I see.......Xcell will be out with a G26 Fury CCPM machine in a couple of months......but I am not wanting to be a bata tester for that.

Good luck, with whichever machine you choose.....the main appeal to me was fuel costs....at almost 1.75 a gallon now.......its still 10 percent the cost of nitro, and no comparison in torque, sound and smoke. Let us know which way you decide to go on it. James

Well its already been done!

After extensive research it seems there are a few "can't loose" ways to go. I just made the purchase from Larry at Bergen Saturday. He will be sending me the Intrepid gas w/ the G26 as well as the yoke and transmission mount upgrades. Ordered the pipe which makes the heli quieter and adds better power. Also asked Larry to send me Malorie's new canopy when it becomes available. I’m already getting bored w/ my Corona. Its fun but time to move on and up wards. I can't wait
I will let you all know what I think when I get it dialed in. Thanks again for all the input, really helps.

Let me know if you need any help building or setting up the machine. I would be happy to offer any help I can.

Congatualtions!
Malorie

BTW, I am working on the production plug for the canopy this week. The canopy should be availible some time next month as long as all goes well.
