ATV's control the piro rate on Futaba Gyros.

Crank it up to max.

That will give you insane rates. If not enough for you bigger or wider tail blades if they will fit.

Also make sure you have mechanically maxed throw on the gyro first.

Then crank up ATV's.

The whole tail gearbox twisted round 45 degrees on my 600N when I did one on Saturday, I think its definately a manouver that punishes the heli to the extreme..... saying that, its not gonna stop me doing more of them !!

I second Boony!

I did it. Set my ATV's to 150% and my 600 piro was a blurr. No kidding! It was awsum right up to the point where it threw my tube out of the tail far enough to dis-engauge the torque tube and I don't need to spell out the rest. $$$

Not only do you have to max out your ATV but also your Dual Rate aswell, that'll give INSANE piro speeds. Glue the tail box on with a bit of green loctite on the 600N stops any movement.
Wouldn't recommend maxing out on a gyro that wont allow any sort of "softening " on the stops mind, dare say the gears will wince when you let go of the stick!!!

If you are using Solig G gyro you can use the "Pirouette Speed" parameter

to set the Pirouette speed and atv switch to change it during the flight.
The Solid G has some other parameters (special Pirouette menu options) that deals with the Pirouette issue, such as:
1. Pirouette stop speed (right or left)
2. Pirouette Balance (right & left)

and many more.

Best regards,
Nadav Barak.

I wouldn't do it to any of the helis in your list. With the 600n sport, or at least a metal tail box with a belt, you could do it. The problem is that there is so much weight in the tail that it pushes too much force rearward and wont be able to handle it. I've done it with a r50, but every once in a while i would make the tail gear look like a pulley and the belt would only have half of the notches on it. The r90 is stout enough to do it as well. The synergys have had a lot of problems with their tails as it is, so I wouldn't risk it on one of those.

But, that's just my input.

OH! YOU FLY TOY HELICOPTERS?!

I maxed out the ATVs for my 401 on my T-Rex 450. Not too bad piro rate.

Then I fitted the Spartan 760 gyro and maxed the ATVs to 150% as before. Oh My Word - I literally couldn't see the tail to know when to stop it from the blindingly fast piro!

On some gyros like CSM's you can increase/decrease the piro start/stop rate, if I were to max my rudder dual rates I would decrease the start/stop rate to prevent gears stripping or belts slipping!

Eat, sleep, 3D, crash, repair, repeat...

You can also program a mix so that when you input the rudder, it will turn down the gain value.

It will be faster than you could believe! Of course crank up the trave adjustment and dual rate

Uh oh.

I was in such a fast piro last Sunday that my 450SE threw the battery, ESC and canopy. Then the blades hit the tailboom and threw the tail assembly. Then the remaining parts landed on the deck. That battery was stuck down with a full length layer of velcro and had 2 velcro straps as well.

Yes, it was an insane tail piro rate!
