e-Gaui Hurricane 200 & 550 - EP100 > Should I sell the 450SE and get a Hurricane XES Pro SE?

My Trex 450SE is currently down for repair so I was wondering if I should just sell it or part it out to fund a Hurricane XES Pro SE from Readyheli. The reason it came to mind is because I can utilize all my 3S 2200 and 2070 packs with the Hurricane. I know those packs wont do any hardcore 3D but neither will my skills and at least they wont go to waste. I can always get some larger 6S lipos later as my 3D skills improve. After flying my stretched Logo 10 3D, I'm just not as excited to fly (or repair) my 450SE anymore. It just feels small now compared to the Logo and gets tossed around in the wind. Also, I figure the hurricane (w/500mm blades) is small enough for smaller fields yet large enough to not be so concerned with wind.

Any input? Should I proceed with the change?

Its gonna be a lot more stable so your can concentrate on learning instead of worrying the twitchyness of your 450. At least thats how I see it.

The Hurricane is more stable than the 450, and the best part you can see it better.

Has anyone tried out a pair of Air Thunder 3S 2200 (25C) lipos in the Hurri? I'm sure you can extend the flight time by at least 1 minute for casual aerobatics.

ditch the 450 until you get good on the 550 hurri- just my 2 cents.

I meant to do that!!!

I've been flying various Trex 450's for 18 months now, then I started thinking about what it would be to fly a somewhat bigger heli and started thinking about a trex 600 but the cost of the batteries was just to much for my budget. Then I started seeing posts about the Hurricane 550 and started reading about it but it seemed to have its fare share of problems much like the early Trex's did.

Anyway, when the Hurricane 550 Pro became available here in Australia I have one of those finacial moments of weakness and i'm now the proud owner of a 550 Pro and which as many of the early problem parst factory upgraded so I have only had to make a few minor changes.

I'm really starting to get a good feel for the bigger bird and now feel pretty confident about chucking it around the sky.

It's much bigger and thus much easier to see than the little Rex and the size certainly makes it somewhat more stable, especially in strong gusty winds as we have had in Sydney the last couple of weeks.

I'm getting between 7 to 8.5 minutes using the Air Thunder 2200 packs and its got surprising speed considering its size and weight.

I'm keeping the Rex as well but Hurricane is very nice as well and I think good value for what I paid for it.
