e-Gaui Hurricane 200 & 550 - EP100 > I swapped my Flybar with a Raptors and Yippee!!

well guys without a doubt a longer flybar really wakes up the Hurricane! for those of you running the stock hurricane like me it now flies great! The Raptor flybar is about 2 inches longer then stock and with the stock motor it now rolls very nicely, much faster, I can now do continous rolls with the a stock setup and evo2500 and 2170 packs! Acctually for anyone i would probably try the swap, I also beleive the Trex 600 flybar is about the same as the raptor give or take a few mm's. With the stock setup, i lost too much head speed to do continous rolls / Flips because of the needed collective, now it will do a easy 5 or 6 continous rolls / flips. It does need more power to do a nice funnel but i am now going to stick with the stock motor for a bit longer now. I am Very Very happy with this Heli Now. it now matches my Trex 450 on the flip and roll rates and the Hurricane was always better on climb outs. so 6-7 minute flights on "cheap packs" (2170-2500) makes this a Awesome heli! I might try dropping a tooth on the pinion and going with the Trex 600 cabon paddles

I ordered the trex 600 flybar from readyheli about a week ago with the intent of trying it this week. The heat here is still in the 100's so I still haven't been able to. I am happy to hear that the longer one makes that big of a difference! I also like the finish of the trex one better- it is stainless or silver plated and matches the hurri bling well. What paddles are you using? Would some programables like the TT green or red help? I have heard that they are heavier than the gaui ones but thinner. Whats more effective for speeding up cyclic -length of flybar, weight of paddles or thickness of airfoil on the paddle?

I meant to do that!!!

All of the above can help. I like the Trex also but has a flybar from my old Raptor on hand. I heard the Gaui paddles are 17g I did not weigh mine but they are indeed lite! the new Trex 600 carbons are only 15g, and I have a set of 17g carbons I made some time ago for my Raptor but they are a bit big, I will probably cut them down shorter and get them to about 14-15g adn try them. but acctually with the stock paddles it works very well even with the stock motor, if you are running the 1500w motor and higher head speed i would not think you would need more. For me i just hate the looks of the stock paddles so I will make my own set of 15g carbons or buy a set of the Trex, I never did like the TT greenies. not fond of green!

Beside the length of the flybar and the weight of the paddles may affect the cyclic response, just wonder is the paddles size will affect the response?
If bigger size in term of the area but still remains the same weight, maybe thinner with longer or wider.

yes the lenght of the paddle will speed up cyclic as well as will the position on the flybar into the paddle. I have made several sets from busted 600mm blades for my Raptor and gohbee 50's and played with lenght and position. it is hard to get them under 15-18g though,I have a set of 550 fiberglass blades I was going to make some for the Hurricane but the Glass is too heavy, just the cut blades came to almost 20g and I would still need to add inserts. i do have a set of 18g paddles left from my 50 I might try.
