Alaska Airlines

I flew on Alaska from Seattle. No problems whatsoever either way.

No Problems

Hi Guys,

I flew on America West and I did not have any problems. I'm flying the same airline to Phoenix, hopefully no problems for that trip either.

Continental, and problem again. As some of you know, I was turned down by CO going to Orlando last NOV. Once again, I was turned away going to Vegas last weekend. This time I am flying Northwest and am going to ship the machine to Phoenix. 80 bux.

Randy,

What exactly happened? Did CO not like your transmitter or your Helicopter or both?. Let us all know the details.

CO

It wasnt the transmitter. Both times were out of Newark. When I opened the golf case, they saw the wires, engine, tank, etc.. and said we cant take that on board. No explaination given, and I work for the FAA. (ATC)
I MAY try to get it on NW for Phoenix, but if I fail, I will either have to pay 130 bux to get it there for SAT, or not take it at all like Vegas. I think I am having much more trouble only due to the NYC origin. I know that one person had trouble out of SFO last week for Vegas, and had to ship.
Darrell had more trouble than usual in Detroit on Amer. West, but made it through, and back.

America West

Randy,

By the time we purchased the tickets Northwest had raised the price. In addition I was able to take the helis to Vegas on America West so I thought I should stick with a sure thing (I hope.).

I know what you mean. I waited a day too long, and lost my sunday night departure home. Now I have to wait till mon. 248 isnt so bad.
I got a room at the Grand, and told Dimitry. He got one too. If you havent gotten a car yet...do it fast. Alamo is sold out. I had to get one from Dollar.

Why open the case???

Just out of curiosity did the airline make you open the case or did you volunteer? I packed mine in a regular suitcase (with foam), checked it in and told them what was in it. They said "Oh what fun." and put it on the belt. I am a Non-Rev flyer on Alaska.
Not really sure why they (Continental) had you open it? Each airline has their own security practices (one of the big problems with airline security IMO).

Had a few of us from Seattle at Vegas and we all had no problems.
Maybe it is worth the drive to DC and fly Alaska to SEA then PHX.
Sorry had to plug the paycheck maker.

my buddy and I flew Alaska out of Sea-tac. It took a grand total of 8 minutes(I timed it) to get from the car to the bar. We had two double golf cases and one more hard plastic case. I couldn't believe it! We showed up 3 hours early expecting problems...Only problem we had was drinking all that beer wating for our flight.

They, for some reason, even rushed us past the normal line to go through the metal detectors.... have no idea why, but I am not complaining...

I flew out on Northwest from MSP for Vegas and had little problems. I checked my helis and my suitcase at the skycap, no questions asked. I went through the security checkpoint with my transmitter and they checked it out and I ended up throwing away a few small tools that I forgot to take out, but I don't use them anyway.

When I left LAS I checked my helis and my suitcase in at the front desk, they didn't even ask me what was inside(suprised the hell out of me!) and then I walked right through the security checkpoint, my transmitter case went through the xray machine with no questions asked, I thanked everyone and proceeded to my gate where I wasted about 3.5 hours finding something to do. My trip to Vegas went rather smooth flying Northwest. I have flown them three times with helis, twice to Vegas once to Phoenix.
