Thunder Tiger Raptors 30-90 - Imperio > RAPTOR 50 600N Vs. Raptor 50

I have Rappies (my 50 has the Kasama) and just bought 2 600N Sports at IRCHA. Flew one of them the first time this weekend to start breaking in the Hyper. I can already tell I will like the flight performance of the N more. It feels very light in the air and I'm only cruising around to breakin the motor! Still love my Rappie too and beat on it good this weekend. Fly what you like I say!!

We have no choice but Raptors

For most of us who live in places like Mexico, Dominican Republic, Central America we have no choice but to buy Raptor 30's and 50's as there are no other spare parts available.

Raptor spares are a phone call away and the prices are also good. So what I am saying, sometimes the dealer service makes you stick to a product.

I don't think I can do 50% of what my Raptor 50's can do so why bother...I am sticking to Rappys. If I get a T-rex I may not be able to do 51% of what it is capable.

Splitting frames in a Raptor are no big deal. Drop the engine. Pull the whole head off (Intact above the swash) take out screws from the side which does not have many cables and you are home free. I can change bearings in about 60 - 70 minutes, and how often do you have to do it?

Just my 2 cents worth. Please be kind to me MR10X.

So many years wasted on plankers...!!!!

Come on now Jason, do Kiwi's really speak like that or are you translating into "Yankish" for the masses to the north?

Well said and applicable to more than 90% of heli flyers I suspect, myself included.

My Raptors are like family and I would ask their approval before I expected them to share the bench with a 600N.

You really are the man with a mission aren't you? I considered putting you on my ignore list too, but you do have some interesting things to say when you get off bashing Raptors. Not everyone likes things exactly the same way and there are some of us who have flown and owned both who still enjoy our Raptors. I've owned every size Raptor ever made and have an R50 and R90 as well as a 600 at present. The Raptor is quicker on the cyclics with a 4mm flybar and V-paddles and is a little less stable. It tracks very well, but the 600 is even a little better in this regard. My R50 has been very reliable once I started screwing my T/B in place to keep it from slipping. The 600 has been equally reliable, but any tail touch will take out the T/R drive gears which are a pain to replace. The R50 is a little heavier stock, but has a more durable canopy. The 600's canopy and landing gear will fit on the Raptor with minimal mods and shave the weight down so it's very nearly identical. I've never had to change the main shaft bearings on either and don't anticipate I ever will. The clutch bearings on the R50 have not given me any problem. Hope this helps. steve.

Man your not kidding. I have to ask why you seem to hate
Raptors with a passion. I can understand not liking
them but you appear to detest their mere existence.

Did someone and Thunder Tiger piss you off or do you have an agenda.

I have both machines. And from what I have read in these posts, I have come to the conclusion: SET UP is EVERYTHING. I have two raptor 50's. The first one that I set up doesn't fly as nibble as the second one. BUT, As I progress.... My set up and builds are getting better. I'm starting to pay more attention to my set up. I just went back and re-set up my original R50. I added some mechanical gain to the aileron and elevator and installed digital servos all the way around.

When I first set up my 600N, I did a bone head move and only put in four degrees of cyclic. But, I didn't post that my R50 rolls faster than my 600N. I thought that's not right. Now I have 8.5 degrees of cyclic in the 600N. I couldn't tell you how many degrees of cyclic that I have in my R50's

My point is that some set ups are hot and some are not. An R50 properly set up will pull off any 3d move.

Having said that IMO the 600N will allow for a hotter set up. You can put in a few more degrees of pitch and cyclic, and the machine is lighter, all of this makes for a more nibble machine, hands down. I also, find that the 600N tracks very very well.

Now the R50 IMO is an easy machine to work on, from pulling the motor to replacing any part. I love it. It is a very reliable machine and the mechanical mix makes for easy set up.

Summary, I'll be keeping my R50's and my 600N, and I need to learn to do a better job of setting up a machine for my flying style.

I'd rather be flying
