My TR blades are balanced real nice like, but I still get a "buzz" in the tail. Enough to see on the fin. How have you successfully eliminated this type of vibration????

Your tail rotor shaft may be slightly bent.

Nice setup there Willy, are all those parts "drop in"?

what kind of blades do you run?

I ran it with just the tail slider attached, and no vibration, so it has got to be the blades and the hub. What I understand to be the hub is what the TR blade grips screw into.

3 questions:

1) Even with the blade grips screwed all the way into the aluminum hub, I get a little lateral play. Like maybe the bearings are oversized? Is this normal??

2) On the slider control, the part where you screw the ball links to does not seem to be square. If this is the case am I inducing vibration here at this point? I have tried a 2nd one of those plastic pieces to see if I could get is more square, but have had limited success in threading it on.

3) What method do you use to balance the TR?

thanks

Balancing T/R

Make absolutely sure your T/R shaft is straight. Even the slightest bend will cause vibration (which goes away when you take the weight of the end of the shaft, fooling you into thinking it's the T/R blades. Yes, been there and done that )

If the shaft is absolutely straight, then the only way to balance T/R blades I know is trial & error. Put some tape on one blade and see if it's better or worse. If it's worse, try the other blade. Then try more or less tape until you find the amount that gives the smoothest running.

1) Normal IMO. Centrifugal force helps take out some play while running anyway.

2)Not sure I'm thinking about the right part, but remember the spacing between the balls will vary with T/R pitch.

3) See above.

If you are 100% sure the shaft is straight...

I got vibes when I switched to stiffer blade grips and bolts. My soluton was to brace the tail gearbox with aluminium doublers. There are pictures in my thread a little bit below this thread on the forum. With the doublers it's super smooth.
