Do anyone know what muffler Alan Szabo jr. is using on his Aurora at IRCHA?
And was it just me or did they say that Bobby watts were flying the new "MA" Beam micro in one of the vids?

Looks like IRCHA is getting bigger! :P I think i have to save up some to get there next year

So does anybody know if the Century Rep got his lawyer yet to get the Avant he thinks he won in the Grand Prize giveaway?

Rules clearly state that Reps are not incuded in the grand prize raffle.

He was a whiny little bi#ch.

Go fly a friggin Century dude....

Give away

That was pretty funny seeing a Century rep get all bent out of shape because they wouldnt give him the Aurora. If he does get a lawyer to try and get it, that wont be saying much for Century thats for sure. I didnt see a video of Bobby flying the beam, but I did see it being flown by him and it looks pretty mean, fast backwards flight that tail was rock solid. Its a nice heli for the price, they will however be changing the name to read "Miniture Aircraft Beam" on the boom and packaging from what I was told, because right now it just says BEAM. Hell I didnt even know it was being made by them, I saw it on there table but had no idea it was a MA helicopter. They did bring plenty of Razor Nitro kits 20 I believe, and sold about 8 or 9 the first day. I was told by Jeff Miller that the first run Razor Nitro kits they had there did not have the instructions as they were not able to get them completed by the time they had to leave for IRCHA, but would send them out to the customers who bought one as soon as they were completed

Everything we fly can be dangerous, I try to point out to my fellow flyers all the time these are not toys and can seriously hurt you. I fly mostly "Plankers" as you guys call them. I am a 3D plane pilot and I know while i am hovering my plane with the rudder touching the ground if the prop broke or came off it could hit me or anyone on the flight line, we all could be safer in flying 10-20 feet away from ourselves, but it is easier (at least for me to ) see it up close at me.

helis do kinda scare me cause it is a ubside down lawnmower w/o a guard. My father has been cut on the arm before by heli blades it was on the ground and lost control he pulled the fuel line off before it took off into the neighborhood or who knows where...

i fly electric in hopes I could stop my heli or plane before something bad happend but these Big gassers are really dangerous, but we just need to be safe with them. From these videos all these pilots are great pilots they didn't just start this hobby last week, yes Everyone crashes and everyone has a bad day, thats Life..

Great video Wish I was there

blade CX ,lots of planes, blade 400 Soon I hope

I say we keep this thread on IRCHA, and talk about the safety issues in another thread if any should choose to start it in the safety forums. This is a great event, and shouldnt be shadowed by a couple of folks who want to analyze, and drag every little incident to the kangaroo court of speculatory public forums.

Sounds like IRCHA is the one with the safety issues.

It should be noted that the camera guys stand in the spot where the IRCHA staff tell everyone else not to be (frequently over the speakers and in person on their carts). So that wasn't so much a safety issue with IRCHA as it was a shinning example of why they tell you not to be there. The media guys get to assume the risk of being in a spot that the IRCHA staff tell you not to be.

I was talking to the producer/owner of the "Beam" 402 at the 3Dmasters. But i do not know if it is the same heli. beam-inc dòt com...

I did get a few pair of theyr blades for the Beam, and they were white on the top and pink underneeth. It looked like the "MA Beam" also had blades like that when Bobby Watts were flying it...

nice heli tho :P

MikeV, man I am glad you are ok! I was standing a few feet behind you when it happened and I thought you might be a gonner at first. We were very worried about you and unfortunately the IRCHA officials never said anything about you or your condition so it's nice to hear you are are basically ok. Those heli-reactions must have helped you.

Matt Botos and many others were flying the new Miniature Beam. It is the best looking micro I have ever seen. I tried to buy one of the 3 demos right there but they just would not listen. They are ready to come out. M.A. is just waiting on the boxes. The quality is head and sholders above anything else I saw at the show (as far as micros go). MA told us they can make 3000 a month (as needed), that is good news. We were also told they will go for around $300. Trex 450 is going to get a wake up call with this.

Let your flying do the talking - don't talk about your flying

And Mike saved himself by ducking down at the last second otherwise it would have hit him right in the head and chest, but instead the heli hit him in the back and then continued on behind him about 10 feet where it stopped
Yeah, I was about 20' aways too Missed Mark By about 5 to 7'!
He was taking pictures up to the point where he Ducked & by that time, it Hit!!
What I saw was just like you said but the Rotor disk his his Camera first, smacked his leg then I saw it hit his Neck, I was so scared for him at that point, but luck has it it grazed his back!!
Tuff Dude Man & Very Lucky he had that camera or it would have been alot worse & smashed into his Face & chest!!
Glad it was just a minor insident!

It made Everybody More Alert & More Cautious thru out the reat of IRCHA!!
We all just got too excited & forgot the reality of Rc Heli's being that close to that kind of flying!!!!

and one more thing "DON'T BE AFRAID!"

The party is over : (

Well Im back at home and I must say what an event it was, I was glad to be part of this record breaking event as pilot #464. One thing I would like to bring up that has yet to be mentioned in this thread was the way radio impound and frequency times were monitored, the volunteers and that software they were using did an excellent job of keeping track of who had what and for how long. It was a very smooth operation IMHO, I had no problem getting channel 56 in fact there was only one other person I think using 56 and he was a scale flyer. I can recall only 3 times going up to get 56 and it was out but I was able to get it 15 min later.
I flew more times in one day at IRCHA then I think I ever did at my own flying field thats how open the freq board was. I think with so many people using spread spectrum it freed up alot of the 72MHz channels. That being said some flight stations were more crowded then others but if you needed a ride the guys in the carts were there to take you to what ever flight station you wanted to fly at. All and all it was a wonderfull experience for me and I am sure for alot of other first timers and veterans of IRCHA alike. BZ to everyone who help put this event together and lets see if we can't break another attendence record next year.

Take care

Kyle

I have to say the best part of the whole "Aurora" debate was after the guy cried for 5 minutes that he wasn't a rep they called up one of the Century guys. He was immediately busted as being a rep but still kept crying about it.

Glad to hear that no one was killed. I hope people take these things a little more seriously.

About the Century rep and the Aurora....Thats kinda funny. I wish they had made the no rep part clear...Like not allowed them to enter. But if I sponsored a guy and he later claimed not to be a rep...He would no longer be a rep.
