Like an idiot I left the tank vent plug off. Took off then she quit. Too low for an auto.

Came down with forward motion from about 15 feet.

Looks like no damage. Flew again... all seemed fine.

When putting her away I noticed a couple of teeth broke off the tail drive gear. This is the belt drive unit up front. The gear that engages the lower driven tail gear.

Got two on order. These small gears are not too durable

I had a similar on sunday....

I was adjusting the limits in my 502. I found out the hard way if you dont exit the gyro will not work. I spooled up and as soon as it got of the ground it piro'ed like 1 time in a blur. I dropped it in a panic blew my tail blades up and stripped the same gear. Main and auto gear were fine. I called Bill James hoping the had a spare because they are not in stock yet. Got one from Brian he had from converting his belt drive. Flew 4-5 tanks and notice the fin was shaking. The tail shaft had a tinnnny bend in it. Luckily I had one from the tail box upgrade.

I now know that the white and grey gears are the same and I could use the E version but the nitro has a metal pully.

sorry to hear about your incident owl. Glad it wasn't worse. I am very familiar with those front TT gears. I have become a master of changing them out. I recommend buying the entire case instead of replacing the gears individually. Saves a ton of time.

trex600crasher,

This is the belt drive unit. You have to split the tailcase to get the belt in there so buying the whole case isn't an advantage. Not that bad of a job as it is.

Here is the gear...
