e-Gaui Hurricane 200 & 550 - EP100 > Neu 1910/1Y in the Hurri 550?

Does anyone know if the Neu 1910/1Y can be shoe-horned into the Hurri 550? If so, is it a good idea? I'm hesitant even if it does because I think the flight times with a Neu Motor on a pair of 3S 2200's will be real short and may even BBQ them. I guess it all depends on the gearing... Any input?

Neu 1910/1Y

This is an 8s motor. You do not want to use it on 6s. I have a mega 22/30/3e motor you can run on 6s with around 2200 hs. I'll sell it for $100 shipped. It's basically brand new...I just bought a new motor, more power...Let me know...Thanks

I have been playing with one --- the 19 series could be put in the Hurricane with some work. First up you should get the larger first stage spur gear so you have a reasonable reduction ratio which also moves the motor foward some. The next thing to take care of is to use spacers to move the control bell-cranks out a little to clear the motor can.

The project would be a bit like slipping a V8 into a Miata--enter the Monster Miata.

This motor is commonly used on Logo 10's everywhere and are usually on 6S. I did plenty of research on the 1910/1Y before I bought it. By the way, my Logo 103d is pretty ballistic with it on 6S and 550mm blades. I'm not sure where you got your info but IMO, it's incorrect...you may be referring to a different motor, possibly the 1.5Y. IMO, the Neu 1910/1Y is the perfect motor for a 500mm heli like the Logo 10 on 6S.

I always loved the idea of doing that. What about that 1910/1Y in a Trex450 and a 6S 1320 pack?

BTW, I LOVE my 1910/1Y Steve! The best motor I've ever owned. Keep up the great work!

The other candidate would be 1509 with around 1800kv rating. This will require no linkage modification. It will however require using 61T 2nd stage spur gear. We will be doing this mod to our H550 sometime in the fall.

I spoke with Neu...

I've been looking at thier motors and speaking with them... YOUR wrong this is NOT a 6s motor, although you can use it as that. It will not run efficent with 6s. And the new 1910h/1y motor is for 8s or 10s. The 1910/1y is only for 8s...Why don't you call neu before you squak again..!!! the kv is only 1050. You need more than that for 6s and if you don't you'd have to run a 14t pinion. And if you no anything about heli's you want to run the lowest possible pinion for maxium efficenty!!! Go ahead and run yours at 6s... But it's not the proper way. I'm sure you esc gets hot too...probaby your lipos too. I run 8s, my lipos are not even warm just the esc is warm, not hot...

Say what you will. I guess all those guys who use this motor for their 6S Logo 10 know nothing about helis! 8S may be ideal with most applications but I HAVE IT IN A 6S LOGO AS DO MANY OTHERS AND IT WORKS GREAT.

I suggest that before you claim an absolute,

you should know what you are talking about because as I said, I fly my Logo 10 on 6S almost every day and if it doesn't work, I'm seeing things.

My Logo 10 3D runs the 1910 1Y w/fan on 6s.
Doesn't mean it was ment for 6s, but it sure as heck does the trick

i am testing my Swift right now with a 1910H/1Y with a 5s setup.

The data logger is showing that the amps i am pulling is high, but that is because the blades (1) i am using are heavy/long , (2) i have +/-13 pitch, and (3) bec. of my sub-par battery pack

this weekend i will be trying out better battery packs and see how well/or badly my batteries perform. i will also test it with some lighter/smaller blades.

the main reason i would keep this motor is because i can always upgrade in the future with more cells. it is quite large when i compare it next to my 1907/1.5y ... and had to shave the frames of my swift a little so then it could fit.

my 2 cents ... khan

<EDIT> when i mention high amp draw, it is still within my ESC's limit. i am using a 80-6-18, and so far the highest i have peaked at is 65amps (with tictocs). the ESC is warm only, and do note ... it is also powering my receiver. my main concern is the voltage drop ... for sure a 6s will handle the load easily, and the amp draw will be even lesser
