e-Hirobo SRB Quark - Lepton - XRB Coaxial > Black dust from belt at the end of a flight ?

My Lepton is pretty new and every time I fly it I see a tiny bit of black dust collected mostly on the roots of the tail rotor blades. I cannot see any wear on the belt itself (not yet anyway).

Anybody else noticed this ? Perhaps my belt is too loose ? or too tight ? Comments on belt life for the Lepton ?

thanks

I used to see belt dust in my helis, up until I lost a belt. Upon researching and reading numerous posts about belt maintenance, I learned that the best thing to do is to spray Silicon Lubricant to belts.

I use CRC silicon lubricant; you can find it at any auto part store. You will notice your tail blade will run smoother, your belt will last much longer, and there will be no belt dust in your heli.

Cheers,

Yes,
I've been using silicon lubricant on my trex belt (mostly because the trex belt is lower quality) but didn't think the Lepton would need it. I'll try it and see what happens.

Thanks !

Now do you spray this on both sides of the belt, teeth side also?
Just wandering if its ok if it gets onto the teeth side and pulley.

I assume the spraying procedure is to spray a small quantity as the belt is running ?

I've heard that others use WD40 and myself have noticed some dust and fiber particles in both ends of the belt pulleys on my SE rex using
softer type of belt. So I'm not sure which to go for the WD40 or the silicone spray mentioned.

Anyone else noticed how the T-rex belt is very rigid and feels a bit plasticky and has no part number marking.

The belt I use has a PN#/SIZE marking and it is made in Japan and seems to be more flexible.

I had a gates belt for my 450 and would LOVE to get one for my lepton. Where do I get it and what size will fit the lepton??

I know on the old shuttles, that problem existed when there was excess molding matterial left on the pulleys from manufacturing. Once it was sanded smooth, the problem went away. I don't know anything about you helicotper.
