Align T-REX 600N 700N > Thrust bearing - Which way?

The thrust bearing washers are obvious which way they go around but the actual bearing is not. Does the open cupside (which you would normally fill with grease) face towards the head or towards the blades? Looking at the manual it appears they face outwards towards the blades.

The solid side of the thrust bearing goes towards the blades or load side.

So the manual appears to be wrong?

If you look closely at the profile of the bearing when you have it out next it looks like the cupped side should face outwards (i even got it under a magnifier to I could compare profiles ti that in the manual) and also the diagram doesnt show the cupping facing the blade.

Also obverse means the more conspiculous side. The more hidden side is the non-cupped. The manual deffinitely seems to indicate the cupped side faces outwards.

ya know I was thinking the same exact thing.
I came to the same conclusion you did and that is the way I installed them.
Now, how do we know if it is incorrect?
What will the heli do if we even notice a difference?

I cant see it making jack difference as the bearing is put under equal load on either side. Some people say that the grease will be g-forced out but I pulled mine apart and the grease was where I left it, in the cup

The way I see it, is that the pressure is placed on the balls, and the cage just floats, so I don't really see a right or wrong way for it to be installed.

I have always been taught that the cup goes in toward the grips, so that centrifugal force does not sling the grease away, the cup holds the grease better facing in.... my interpretation of the diagram, the profile, is that the slightly larger diameter side of the cup is the top lip and it faces toward the grips....

But Honey, I can't live with just stock.....

Never thought of it for grease holding purposes, but now that you have explained it that way, I can see a purpose to cup facing twards the head.
