Looks like mine locking up was my fault. I just got it apart and it was as dry as an old bone. Lubed it up and it spins as free as new....

Yep, the new one from the Sport locked up right away!!

Baddraptor - what do you mean the warranted one?

Guess what, Mandy did 2 sets of double piros during her last flight! Very cool.

I got a helicopter for my girlfriend,
It was a good trade!

Rock, read a few posts back on the second page. Apperently Align is going to warranty this.

However, I pulled mine apart and it was totally dry. All I did was lube it with triflow and it started to spin very easily.

Many did double PIROS??? So in other words, she is flying better than you??LMAO..

Rock...LOL, I was just testing the structural integrity of the Trex frontal impact zone. According to my standards, it failed...The air bag did NOT deploy.

i must hold my hands up and say i was one of thoese ones who claimed to have no problems with the bearrings. wel i didnt think i did untill i recently received a lot of glitching and not even a pcm receiver got rid of the glitch, so decided to take the head off and remove the main shaft. took me forever to remove the main shaft it apears the bearing had seized and the shaft was rotating in the sleeve not the actual bearring turning . have now regreased it heavily and will report if theres any more problems

if you think about it the shaft has to slide through the middle of the sleeve to be installed, and when the bearing lock up the sleeve wont move around the bearing but the shaft will move arounfdthe sleeve if you are decending or wind hits the blades causeing them to want to rotate faster than the engine is spinning the head in the first place.

Jesus..bolt...no way the main shaft can rotate in the sleeve and the rotor head and mian shaft stay on the machine for flight.

Heh. You type quicker than me jax. If that shaft is rotating inside the sleeve you have bigger problems than the one way

LOL
spinning shaft in a sleeve,

yep if it is you do have bigger problems!!! if you have greased it heavily like you said, it will seize up, as the little teeth wont be able to grip cos of all the muck you have put in it.i assume this is a sprag bearing ?

i dont have one of these machines,

I bought mymother in law a chair for xmas, but she would not plug it in.

yep had another look your right guys the bolt does go through the sleeve. ill asume that the interferance was caused by the seized bearings trying to rotate around the sleeve then

the sleeve if fairly soft material and when the bearing locks it squeezes the sleeve and thats why its tight on the main shaft.

So far it is 31/137 for a failure rate of 22.6%.

Yes, that is excessive and justifies fixing this under warranty. I have an email in to Align customer service asking if they indeed are covering this.

Stay tuned!

Well the heli flies good, but the customer service does suck. I got a PM from Assurance asking me to call and talk to a guy named Frank about getting a new sleeve since they thought that was the problem. I called and was told I must have built the helicopter wrong!

I Pmed back saying that not only did I check that, but the heli was built by a guy that has competed in the 3dm and XFC and I doubt very much he built it wrong.

VERY disappointed in Aligns customer service. They should know by now that they have an issue, yet they try to say it is the builders fault and nothing is wrong with the product. Yet they have an "upgrade" fan now.

I wonder how long till they have an "upgrade" one way?
