From what I understand, the Futaba 502 is a better Gyro than their 501, which is older.
Is this correct?

That kinda like saying the 611 is better then the 601 The 501 is older then 502 by a little. If mem serves they came out abit apart from one another. Is it better? Hard choice. Never had a issue with my 501's before and setup is identical to the 502. Many have said its the same gyro just in a different casing. Though I dont kno that for fact as I have never owned a 502. But yes I would by a 501 over a 401 any day of the year. For my 50's,46's,37's and 30's a 611 is way too much to spend on a gyro.
